My 40x Lite-on is nice.... but it still burps every now and then. My 12x Plexwriter was a keeper.

who hoo! im takeing back the tdk I baught last week, damn thing is killing half my disc, even when i burn at 12x! My 12x plextor wouldnt burn a frisbee out of a 100 disc! I was really looking at this one now because im now %100 for plextor and with this deal, im as good as sold. damn.. gotta wait like 3 more hours for it to open though :/

Has this happened with several different burning programs - (e.g. CloneCd, Nero, etc.)? But, I'm with you - $99 for a true 40x Plextor seems like the way to go.

I agree plextors are awesome cdrw..but the 24x I had was very media o...and would only burn cdrs at max...

also the 40x cdrw seems to only burn DAO at 24x max..not 40x......

I went and got this burner. I could not pass on it for $85 net. I brought the printout of the web add. It rang up on the register for $179.99.
I showed the clerk the add, he went online and checked, I think because the add is ambiguous, he went and checked with the manager, then took $80 off the price at the register.
This is really an awesome deal, the cheapest I could find on pricewatch was $131 shipped at ZBuy.

This drive feels like it weighs twice the Lite-On 32X it replaces.

picked mine up in the morning, the sale is and WILL NOT be on the floor. You must have that ad printed to show to them (its like a coupon).

$80 instant rebate (Damn thing became $7 cheaper then the tdk I baught) and then with the $20 mail in rebate makes the thing a steal.


Btw I was useing Nero (full) on the tdk, thats all i ever use now.

Cloud, yea this thing definetly is solid. Me thinks this is a well built drive.. the door makes me afraid to get my finger caught in it for fear of loseing it.

LiteOn 40x and Plextor 40X head to head review LINK

Conclusion : LiteOn LTR-40125S is definitely the winner at this roundup. The drive is the faster in both reading/writing tests than both ASUS and Plextor drives are.

I have 4-40x Liteon CDRWs and just picked up a Plextor. Even though LiteOn outperforms Plextor, I would still prefer the reliabilty and quality of Plextor. Besides, Plextor's RMA policy is awesome. They get you an RMA number quickly when something goes wrong.


My store only had 1 Plextor burner.

The cashier was amazed at the $80.00 off instantly deal either. Lite on may have better review but over time, I believe Plexter will perform consistently over the longer run. I was reading the book "PC hardware in a nutshell" second edition from Oreilly Associates. This book recommends Plexter only. I have made a point to avoid rebates as much as I could. This thing is $100 plus tax out the door. If I get the rebate, it is a bonus!!!!

Picked one up tonight, but the customer service lady had to verify that it was for in-store use, even though the ad says take it to your local store. Anyways, I returned my Memorex (Rebadged Lite-On) I got last week for it.

When I went in, they didn't have any on their shelf. I asked for them and the guy brought me out two. At the register, the girl pulled out a binder and the last page had all the deals listed on it. she punched in some numbers, called someone for a password b/c $80 was over their ability to discount, and 2 mins later, I was out the door. So the stores were informed of this deal. Do not take no for an answer.

I scored one at CompUSA Friday night.
The cashier was surprised when I showed him the printed ad.
He went to the upgrade center and looked at a folder to verify if the drive is for $99.99 after instant rebate $80.
After two minutes, I walked out the door with the drive for less than $100.

To my surprise, I saw the same one is being sold at Best Buy.
I noticed the one that I bought from CompUSA are made in Japan, whereas the one that being sold at Best Buy are made in China.
Has anyone taken a note on that?
