solar, if Plextor made a scsi drive beyond 12x, it's news to me. The last I knew of a Plextor SCSI burner was the 12X - which I understand is a hell of a drive, but awfully obsolete at this point.

Yes, this is a good deal. Lite-On's are very good burners for most things. Don't try and copy Karaoke discs with them though. They won't work. You need a higher end burner for that, and the Plextor fits the bill.

Liteon is a better deal than Plex, I think. If you're going to be repeatedly buying a new burner every 6-12 months, it's a little cheaper to spend $30 each time than $60.

Why would I be buying a burner every 6-12 months? I bought my last 12X plextor in December of 2000.. and it's still working fine!

They were fantastic as well - I never saw any of them die (ended up selling them).

Dude, SCSI or No SCSI, 8x is a 8x. Go get a 48x.

LoL.

Dude, we won't be buying new ones every 6-12 months, I think we hit the ceiling in terms of CD burning speeds. I say it's safe to stick with the 52x or even 48x burners for now.

I agree, jodhas. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I also have a Lite-On (I think it's 40x). As you said - 8x is just 8x, even if it is SCSI.
