Slot loading is a cool feature, but I just don't trust it. It seems like every car cd player I've seen winds up scratching discs (which is why I'm hoping someone comes out with some sort of tray-loading car stereo--yeah, I know, pipe dream)
Well - I go the other way. I have used slot loaders on my two computers for about 4 years. I am now on my 5th car with slot loading CD and DVD players. Have never had a problem with any of them. They are more rugged than tray loaders, and in a car, much safer.
I have never suffered any scratches or disk damage from any of them. IMHO, that is much more likely to happen with one-handed fumbling with jewel cases in a moving environment.
The big disadvantage of a slot loader is in not using the 3.5-in mini DVD disk. It can be done, but it takes a special carrier.
I look forward to trying the 716AL.
