if anyone has any advice that might help me out, it would be greatly apreciated. my Philips 8x burner (PCRW804) seems to have crapped out on me in xp. at first i thought my drive was dead, but i hooked it up to my roommates computer (running windows98) and it worked fine. i've tried just about every combination between 2 IDE channels and master and slave and even on a promise ultra 66 pci controller, none of them worked. XP just decided to stop dealing with this drive and i don't know how to get it to work. The drive shows up under my computer, but regardless of what's in the drive, when i open it up, it doesn't show any files and assumes that i want to write files to the drive. Nero detects the drive and will even open up the burning window, but it won't accept any of the media i put in the drive to burn to. I just tried flashing it to the latest firmware, which is supposed to be much better (had to hook it up to my roomates win98 machine to flash it), but i still have the same problems. It's weird that it was working and now its not. I can't pinpoint when it stopped either so i'm not sure if it was something i installed or not. Could it have to do with ASPI? How do you change this in XP? BTW, my DVD drive works just fine.
