Women's sizes are messed up and are only made more confusing by the fucked up perception guys have about women's sizes.

And as others have said, more than anything, she's just in a terribly unflattering pose. It reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where they talk about things that shouldn't be done naked. Well, certain poses look like crap regardless of condition.

yea a size 12 on a average woman of about 5"8" would be about 170-180 pounds.

My dick is confused at belly flab and hot chick at the same time.

Edit: And any normal person has the belly flab in that position; not criticizing.

Meh. I have no problem with this model, she's beautiful, and that's cool that she's being published. But is anyone else getting tired of all this "yeah! stick it to those evil magazines for publishing pictures of hot, thin girls all the time, those bastards!" stuff that always permeates these stories? Women whine so fucking much about the fact that the media portrays "unrealistic" images of beauty. Well, no duh. Male models are impossibly good looking too, and they're airbrushed to death as well. Somehow, guys seem to realize this and not starve ourselves over it. Sheesh.

It's also funny to me that all these magazines that have airbrushed beauties are largely owned and run by women, as well as purchased almost exclusively by women.

Not trying to start a misogynistic thread or anything. I just don't get this aspect of women.

I erased my initial response and decided to just post this. I am an average looking girl, as several people here will attest.

Once upon a time I posted my picture here and another member took it upon himself to start a thread about it. The thread quickly topped 100 posts, and most were about how ugly and un-doable I was.

Hundreds of average looking guys have posted their pictures here without comment from either male or female members.

Women and men are not judged equally on their appearances. It's silly to compare, or to expect them to react in the same way.

I wouldn't worry too much about what the general population here thinks.

This is a slippery slope my friends.

It's only slippery if you use butter!

And flour?

KT

Um, no. The flour doesn't help with the slipperiness. It helps IDENTIFY potential slipperiness though.

Oh right, I got all mixed up there. Thanks for clarifying.

Unless of course you're actually trying to put a bun in the oven... at which point I think you're in the wrong room.

wtf nobody would call her plus size when fully clothed, yet when she's naked and bending over which accents a little belly fat she's suddenly plus size? She looks very similar in size to my wife who is 5'10" and 138 pounds and when my wife bends over in that position it will display belly fat as well, but when my wife stands up straight you can see her abs and a defining line down the center of her stomach.

shes far from obese, she is what a lot of "normal" people look like. the "plus size" is based on the clothing industry telling us what a plus size is, not reality. im not surprised she wears a 12/14, shes tall and weighs about a normal weight, not size 3 weight. youod be harder pressed to find people that look like runway models than finding people that resemble her.

I do know that 5'7" 180 is a 12/14. So yeah.

I agree with you for the most part, but unless you are short or have a small build, size 12 is not even close to obese. We can, as a society, accept normal people without condoning obesity or underweightedness(however you say that).

Just wan to clarify my opinion. In no way do I think the person in the OP is obese; she isn't one of the people I was really talking about.

Made me lol pretty hard when I saw the commercial for it. At least, among my peers (college-age), the majority of females I see are not obese/overweight. They're actually all rather fit -- if not slim, then healthy-looking, but not overweight.

this show?

This is more like what I am talking about.

Yes, the problem isn't with this particular model, it's with the morbidly obese whales who see the words "plus size model" attached to a woman who is slightly larger than your typical anorexic supermodel and then insist that they are beautiful too and must naturally be the same as this plus size model. Popular perceptions will never change as long as we keep applying these stupid labels to women. Just like how talking about racism perpetuates racism, talking about normal-sized bodies as if they're "fat" perpetuates the idea that "thin" = size 0.
