I just got to thinking about the best way to maximize the new special COMPUSA has on pny128mb compactflash, when I noticed that Best Buy has the same CF for $69.99 with a $15 rebate. Buy it at Best Buy for the $69.99, take it out to your car, grab the COMPUSA ad and pricematch it at the customer service counter. With the 110% match it comes to $25.99 minus the $15 rebate equals $10.99. Enjoy......

Is it BestBuy's policy to do 110% price matching?

Edit:

Nevermind, I just looked on their site, and it is their policy. I'll have to get one of these

Anyone else get the "impression" that CompUSA is trying to "hurt" a few competitors, through some of it's agressive pricing - on select high demand items - the last few weeks????

My wife will be shopping at Ross today which is near CompUSA, asked her to please pick me up a sales ad.

Going to BB tonight before they potentially catch on and kill this most excellent hot deal.

They may not pricematch the entire difference, only their price AR, but YMMV depending if the CSR doing the match knows they have a rebate out on the memory. So instead of $29-$15, it'll be $69-$25($69-$15=$54BB adjustment price-$29CUSA price)-$15= $29, which is essentially the same deal without PNY holding $15 of your dollars. They already have a ton of my money from all the DDR deals recently.

As they say in the NBA, he shoots, he scores!! I had absolutely no problems doing this deal. $21.98 plus tax for 256mb CF (2x128) is about the cheapest I have ever seen.....

** Just go through the regular checkout, and then go back later and PM at the customer service counter. I have done this probably 50 times, and not once have they ever noticed that they have a rebate for an item. They only know when it prints out at the register. For some reason the rebates never seem to print out when they are doing the pricematch, but as always, ymmv. They even had to ask a manager because of the large price difference and he personally approved it**

Jmman - I've always requested my PM during check out at BB, what are the advantages of buying at regular price first then going back and PM'ing later?

The reason that I do not request a pricematch at the checkout line is because the rebate form usually prints out at the register, and when they see that, they might not want to do the pricematch. I usually purchase it normally, grab the rebate form and receipt that printed out and put them in the car, and then return with the competitor's ad and pricematch at the returns/customer counter. I have never been turned down for a pricematch at BB by doing this....they might not do the 110% match either unless you buy it at the regular price and then return to pricematch it...

CAUTION: there is a chance that BB will insist on including the rebate in the PM. If that happens you will be paying about $45 - $15MIR. Also be aware that CF cards have different speed ratings, so does anyone know if these PNY ones are any good?

Doesn't the rebate form usually print out after the transaction is complete?

When you go through the regular checkout line, yes, the rebate receipt and form will print out after the transaction is complete. When you return to the customer service counter to request the pricematch with your receipt in hand, they will re-ring the transaction and give you the adjusted price and the rebates will not print out, at least from my experience.....

I believe it's Best Buy policy that if pricematching occurs before or at the time of purchase, there will be only a 100% pricematch. Also, as Jmman pointed out, when the rebate spews out, they may screw with you!

Scored this one too. Also found a PS/2 network adaptor, lots in stock now in Miami. Had a couple of gift cards for my b-day, so cost me $10, with $15 rebate, I'm still $5 ahead.

Got one too.

But, just like the MS FF Joystick last week, there was none of this memory on the shelf. Like last week, the CSR said it was out of stock. However, again like last week, after insisting that she look for some, she found it in a storage area under the cash register. I'm starting to think that soemone in that store is reading these posts.

Thanks for the deal Jmman.

Why is it that every time I see a post to PM a sale, I always run into problems...

I go to BB to buy the card.

I then go to the Customer Service desk to PM (with the actual paper from Compusa). The lady there says she needs to verify that they have it in stock before she can PM so she calls Compusa. Since I passed Compusa on my way into the mall, I knew they had a bunch. The person over the phone says they didn't have any.

I go to Compusa to buy one, return to Bestbuy to PM, showing them the one I got at Compusa and they do the match.

Then I go back to Compusa to return the one I got there.

Overall, it took me an extra 10 minutes, but I got it.

Yeah, my CSR called CompUSA too. Lucky for me CompUSA's phone system almost nerver gets you to a real person. She just hung up and gave me the PM.

Man BB is so much easier to deal with than CC. All I did was make a crappy copy of the ad and showed it after I bought the CF to the service center. They pricematched it 110% without evening asking if CC has it in stock or not. Of course, that girl that always serves me is really nice too.

dammit, my sister wanted to buy a new digital camera before our family trip to Florida this Sunday, so I went and picked up the Canon A40 for $200+tax at OD, but then got the PNY 128 CF card for $30+tax at CompUSA...anybody know what their return policy is? It'd be nice to be able to get it for that cheap...

No problem getting this deal @ BB in Memphis, TN: plenty of the PNYs in stock...even though the store was crowded, the counter where the digital cameras are sold wasn't...checkout was quick...had to wait a few minutes in line @ the customer service desk...I presented the CompUSA newspaper ad & was promptly given the PM. Thanks for the heads up on this one!

Thanks, scored one!!

The KEY for this deal is that you have to BUY first, keep your rebate form, then goback to CS desk do the PM.
