Confirmed.

Went to BB B&M tonight bought PNY 128MB CF for $69.99 cash, went to my car and put the rebate form in there, locked the car back up, re-entered BB, the guy put one of those pink "return" stickers on my CF, waited in customer service line for a long time (15 minutes), the lady knew the price didn't even look at the ad or even call CompUSA to verify it's in stock, she handed me back $44 cash (since I paid in cash) said that since I am PM'ing AFTER the purchase I am getting a 110% PM.

$69.99
-$44 110% PM
-$15 rebate
===============
$10.99

I would strongly recommend:
1) Bring a copy of the CompUSA ad with you, get it from either your local CompUSA store or newspaper.
2) If you can, pay with cash makes things easier & faster.
3) Buy first at full price, hide the rebate form then walk straight to customer service and request a 110% PM against CompUSA's ad

Super easy, thank you!

I might buy another tomorrow but what am I going to do with so much CF?

Thanks got it too, the lady helping me with the PM noticed the rebate and said it looked like a very good deal. 5 minutes earlier the cash register person said that the SanDisk ones were cheaper (they were like $50 or something, he hee)

You can never have enough CF. I have a Simpletech 512, a Canon 32, and now a PNY 128. For 10 bucks, it's worth it just to have for backup in case you go on vacation.

If anyone is concerned about the rebate slip, you can print out the rebate form at bestbuy.com

Just got mine, no problems at all. 12$ with tax after rebate.

And no, u can't print it out off the web, cause that has a different promotion number. Best Buy has different rebate numbers for online and in-store rebates, even if they are for the same item.

As an update to my dilemna stated earlier...I just realized that I could try this:

Go and get this deal, PM to CompUSA at BB, then take the new unopened package to CompUSA and pretend to return it like I just didn't want it.

This should work...

Yes it should and probably will work but it's still fraudulent.

CompUSSR's stated policy is 15% restocking on non-defective opened merchandise. That being said, I have successfully returned opened items without being charged a 15% restocking fee. Key is to not look like a ungroomed comp geek in favor of a clean-cut joe average computer user appearance. Just play dumb and say "Um, I couldn't get it to work". Of course the items I have returned didn't work to my satisfaction and have probably experienced high return rates (latest being a Pinnacle PCTV tuner card).

As for being fraudulent, I don't think it quite fits the bill. Morally/ethically questionable, yes, but hey, half the deals on this board cross that line Getting back to the basics of contract law, you are allowed to back out of a contract (in this case, a sale), as long as both parties are restored to their positions prior to the sale. In this case, he would get his money back and CompUSSR would receive the identical item in exchange.

thanks JMMAN, got mine last night and CompUSA was apparently too busy with xmas shoppers to answer the phone cause the CR gave up after several tries (whew!.. I was sure they'd be out and blow the deal for me).

BTW.. don't know if there's another thread on this, but when I spotted the $50 off of PS2 when purchased with Xmen on that same ad, I PM'd it at CC on my way to BB and since they don't have the special bundle set up on their registers, it lists the HW & SW seperately (the PS2 was discounted, but Xmen was shown at full price: $49)... sooooo, after grabbin' the CF deal at BB, I went back to CC and exchanged Xmen for the awesome GTA instead. I'm sure you can just return the SW if you want, so you end up with the console for $135 + tax. Waycool!!! Thanks again!

Had my mom buy two and I PMed them at BB today. Of course, I didnt even look at the product because I had carefully and repeatedly told her to look for three words: "PNY," "128 MB" and "compactflash."

Anyone want to guess which word she neglected? So the CSR was telling me that I could not PM SM for CF. I was very lucky that they actually did have plenty (tons, actually) of CF in stock still, so the deal worked out just fine nonetheless, but I was certain for a second that my bad luck had gotten me again. For those out in Northern VA, the reston BB has tons, and the guy did not even call the reston compusa, which also had a few left as of this afternoon.

I assume that the fact that my BB receipt now says the price was $29.99 after PM will not be a problem when trying to get the $15 rebate, right?

On a related note, I was hoping to get home in time to cancel shipment of a $40 128 MB CF from amazon, which they had told me a few days ago was shipping late. Sure enough, when I got home i found a shipment confirmation. Well to my shock, there is a link in the order to return items, and they actually print out for you a postage-paid mailing sticker for you! So when the item arrives, I'll just stick the sticker to the outside and give it back to the mailman the next day. Now that's a hot deal!

!!! I wish I would have checked the boards earlier I just got back from BB and CompUSA and I picked up 128mb Sandisk CF at BB for $49 on sale. Now I have to go back.

This CF is for my girlfriends Casio Poacket PC. This will give me a little extra cash for more presents for her.

I thought the same thing, but then realized that a seperate "Rebate Receipt" is printed out along with the rebate form (made especially for you to send in with the rebate), so it shouldn't be a problem...

And it would be better to just refuse the delivery, so it doesn't cost them any more to ship it back.

Is the deal still going on, also, will CUSA PM even if they are out of stock of the product? Thanks, this looks like a killer deal for my digital camera.

dwj is correct. You mail in the REBATE RECEIPT, not the original sales receipt. If you were smart and PM'd AFTER you paid $69.99 then you should have no problems at all.

TheWart - This ends tonight whenever BB closes because CompUSA's 3 day also ends today.

Went back to BB B&M tonight and ALL the PNY 128MB CF's were sold out

Just scored two of these babes at local BB. I knew the CompUSA near by was OOS so when the CSR went to make the phone call I almost freaked. For some reason she still gave me the PM. Prolly couldn't get to a real human being to answer the phone on CompUSA's end.

Just got this deal from Bestbuy....The customer service rep called Comp USA to verify the deal exists but they were too busy and so she got tired and hung up and gave me the deal anyway. Here's the details:

$74.89 ($69.99 Original Price + 7% tax)
$47.08 (110% Price Difference + tax [$44.00 + 3.08 tax]
- $15.00 (Mail in Rebate)
-------------
$12.81 (Final cost after rebate)

I also had a friend who got this same deal done at the counter itself (he said he just showed the Comp USA ad to the lady at the register) without having to go through customer service and go through the same process that I went through. Lucky him. Either way, we both scored a good deal on this CF card! Thankz.
