For those of you get samsumg chip, the marking ends with -TCA2 is rated at 133 Mhz@CL=2 and TCB0 is rated at 133Mhz@Cl=2.5. Details can be found form http://www.samsungelectronics.com/semiconductors/dram/technical_data/data_sheets/data_sheets.htm. You need to click product guide under DDR SDRAM and a pdf file will come up.

I got 2 yesterday from BB in Westwood, Los Angeles.
But I think I'm going to return it today because I don't even have DDR board other wise I have to build new DDR system
Better use the money for my dvd collection.
But again for $5 who's not interesting ...

the TCA2 are in the old flip-vcr case-looking types with System Mechanic (which is good soft btw) instead of the blister packs (TCB0) without. i got the first my boss got the latter

In Socal, the price appears to have gone back to $49.99 in store. I bought 2 sticks on Sunday for $17.99 at the Cerritos Store, but at the San Bernadino store when I went to pick up my web order the CSR said they were coming for $49.99 in store.

If you're going to get in on this, get it now while your store may not have changed the price back. If I had a scanner at my apartment (only have 1 at home) I would put up a scan of my receipt.

This is a sleeper deal because you have to go to the BB store in your neighborhood to get it. I don't think it is listed in the flyer anywhere. If you check online it will tell you either out of stock or not available for ordering online and not available for instore pickup..... I think they made a mistake and are trying to minimize the damage. I picked up three yester day and it looks like the best deal is to get the ones with the System Mechanic software in them and have the samsumg chips with the markings ending with -TCA2.

Does anybody know which version of "System Mechanic" is included in these packages?
I stuck it in the CDROM but couldn't tell from the initial menu. I don't want to install it since these types of software have a nasty habit of locking up my old P450 system!

can neone tell me if this DDR will work in any mobo? i got an older asus 440bx that supports up to pc100 i believe... is the DDR like PC133.... downward compatible... i.e. it will work but just not up to its fullest? thanks in advance... feel free to pm me with more info if you'd like. Too good of a deal to pass up!

Rushhond The version I got with my memory is 3.6g
but you can upgrade it to version 3.7e from there website

I got one yesterday, and it turned out to be the slower of the 2 Samsung types (TCB0).
I went back and got another one an hour ago (price still at $17.99 before rebate), and it's a Hynix, which I hope is the Hyundai that somebody said runs at 150@CAS2:

Hello. I purchased the PNY memory from CompUSA, but could only get them to sell them to me at $30 w/o $10 MIR. Is there any other way I can get a rebate to lower the price from $20? I went to BB and saw that they didn't have any at all, but the guy there told me to call back tommorow, so is that my only chance at getting this thing for $5? Someone please help me! I really need this sale in order to build my computer.

I've exchanged things at Best Buy after sending off the rebate. Just tell them your RAM is defective.

I am assuming you still have the original recipt.

you can only use PC100, PC133 (backward compatible to PC100). They are all SDRAM. (They are the one usually cheaper and sometimes Free AR)

DDR RAM (PC2100) will not work. You need to buy a new MB for that. They are faster (thus more bandwidth) and just a bit expensive than SDRAM. But DDR RAM is the present choice of RAM. (which push by VIA and such initially and won the market match against RD RAM)

pny is a rebrander, for the most part. memory in this thread seems to be either samsung or hynix (hyundai)
would also caution peeps that now that the price is going back up (last night saw the shelf tags rippped off @ two stores), to make sure that the old-school pkg with the cas2 mem is in stock before returning...

Most staples will call in best buy to check the stock, they will know BB has store price back to 49. -> NO GO.
beside unless staples has rebate, you are not going to get the lower price.
