Anyone have an image of the PNY add that doesn't show it on backorder ?

thanks - feel free to pm me.

probably borderline fraud, I could just save printouts of webpages back from a year or so ago when memory prices were rock bottom, i.e. $37 for 256 mb crucial ddr ram and take them in today.. basically abuse

Well, it only took corporate 3 hours to make a decision. But they did ok the pm of 110% to best buy.
I was even allowed to add the 10 off 50 code. After rebate and taxes, total for me is $1.28 delivered.
Thanks again to the great people on this site!!!!!!!

I got kicked out of Stumples trying to PM this deal to Buy.com. I really did get kicked out! The dude looked like he was gonna have a heart attack. That's fine though...let em. What really pi**ed me off was the fact that this was a legit deal!!!

its not a legit deal when the pm is done without adding the rebate. They shouldn't have kicked you out though....that alone is enough to complain and hopefully get a coupon over.

Staples Policies:
Staples PM policies are well spelled-out on their website.

Here are the links:

Staples PM Policy

Staples B&M PM Policy

Some things to note:
Staples B&M has the same PM policy as their website. Store managers who said that they stopped pricematching are just BSing.
Nowhere in the policy does it say that they need permission from Staples corporate for pricematches above $100.

They are following policy in factoring in overnight delivery, which can get expensive. However, if the company pricematched does not offer "equivalent" delivery, then you are charged $5. Now, here is an important point: "If proof of the other company's shipping and handling charges are not supplied, then $5 will be added to the other company's price." so it MAY be possible to submit a PM from a company w/ expensive S&H charges without putting those charges on the page, and getting PMed for only $5 of S&H.

According to the policy, rebates are factored into the PM, so in this particular case, Staples ought to have factored in the $50 MIR when PMing; kudos to those of you who got away with one here.

It may help your PM quest if you know the policies and can show them (as long as you do so politely) to an uncooperative manager.

Good luck and happy hunting.

If my co-worker wants to buy one of the sticks from me, what happens to the warranty should the module go bad after 6 months.

should I also give him my receipt?

even though i'm not going to sell it for a penny more than I paid for it, I don't want to give him my receipt.

can i buy another stick of the same RAm from staples, ask for two receipts and then return the stick the next day and give that second receipt to my co-worker?

will it work?will there be any difference in the SKU number or UPC number......I think not.

once again, i'm not trying to cheat someone off $5 or $10 here......afterall, he's my co-worker...)

just called the staples csr to order another stick for the in-laws. She was on the ball and would pm with buy.com but knew about the $50.00 rebate. So she was going to add that in , I said never mind. Called right back and got another csr and she did some checking and says she can do it, no rebate mentioned.
So, it pays to call until someone will do it

I scooped 2 today. Thanks althes ! A Gig of ram for $12. Woohoo!

First Staples I hit knew about the rebate and insisted that they include it in the price match. The second one did not know about the rebate and so I got one for $56 inc. tax, before getting the till-printed rebate . I then went back later with my receipt and got another. Both have Infineon chips but one is CL2 and the other is CL3.

A couple of things to note... apparently Staples only match 100% to dotcom's. Also, make sure your printout has shipping costs included or they won't match. Rebate ends 11/23 .

I tried to pick it up at my local Staples yesterday. The mgr said, we don't price match .coms - then I showed him "hacgumyu" receipt. He said that store mgr was crazy, then showed his assistant mgr - both cracked up laughing.. Then nicely said, sorry nice try !

Think I'll try again with policies in hand !

hummm - looking over the store policy:

"If you find a lower price, anywhere else, on a new identical item, just show us the lower price when you buy the item at Staples or within 14 days after your Staples purchase - and we'll give you 110% of the difference.

Our 14-day price-match guarantee is good on everything from office supplies to the latest technology. The item must be in-stock and available for purchase at that price from a company located in the U.S.

If you find a lower price in a Staples store, Staples catalog or on our website, www.Staples.com, we will match the lower price. The additional 10% of the price difference does not apply"

A little ambigous, says "anywhere else" but goes on the further detail only their website (www.staples.com).

Think were up to mercy of the store mgr interpretation.

Great deal! Tried to PM $49 at NewEgg, but they said it had different chips. Then tried buy.com
at 52.99. Manager disappeared for a while. Came back and said he was able to place an order
at buy.com and would price match 110%. I was getting ready to ask him to put in writing
why he wouldn't match the price and didn't have to.

This deal is still very much alive.

I just got off the online Live Customer support on Staples.com to PM each stick to 59.55. Total came out to 78.38 incl. VA 4.5% state sales tax (using the 30 off 100 code - which I don't get since my calculations show 89.10 BEFORE tax and after coupon) AND them adding Buy.com's next-day shipping cost onto the order. Either my CPU is on the blink or he forgot to carry a one...

This is my second successful dealing with the live online customer support when it comes to PMing. You're assured the other person on the other end of the line has internet access to verify online deals, and you don't get a crick in your neck from craning the phone on your shoulder for nearly an hour while your rep "researches/gets some coffee." Of course, it does have the possibility of backfiring due to the fact that the person doesn't have to look you in the eye to say no.

I highly recommend it to anyone who is having trouble. But don't go in gangbusters quoting FW or AT threads (I never even brought them up - nor did he)...and DON'T mention the coupon code straight off. The live help's not available now, but it is during the day up to around 8pm EST, it seems.

Still, 78.38 final - 50 = 28.38, and 78.38 - 100 = +21.62. Not half bad either way, I think. Thanks for all those who have posted this thread on various forums. This will make each of my SDRAM-using boxes functionally useful again (if not much so for gaming as for multifunctioning and large I/O transactions - I smell two servers a'beggin to be made).

hey all,

got the PM last night, but had to argue for it. the staples lady said that because the buy.com printout that i had only said "PC133", and the packageing said "PC133/100/66" that they were different products. finally after arguing that the manufacturer's no was the same on both she gave it to me... the only problem is that she crumpled up the rebate slip and said "no-can-do". is there anywhere online that i can get the rebate form? i went to the staples website, but there's only rebates on 128mb and 256mb.

HELLLLPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!! (please)

thanks,
don

Rebate link for all those interested.

Retrieved from FW - god, removing a VALID rebate from the site to save on costs. Staples is getting worse.

Don't mention it - but I highly doubt we'll be getting multiple rebates. As I said before, I'm MORE than happy to be getting 1GB of PC133 for 28 bucks. I don't need to make 21 bucks to feel like I won out. I'll still try, though.

What a waste of time. I tried calling twice. The first time I went through 6 different websites for a pricematch and all but one came up OUT OF STOCK. Provantage site said 34 in stock. Place in basket.....OUT of Stock.
Called back with NEWEGG pricematch. After the usual hold time the supervisor told the sales rep that Newegg was just added to the list of vendors that Staples won't pricematch. Then the rep tried to tell me that the rebate was $50 PER item and that the rebate form was in the package for each one.
Also, the person who posted that he pricematched using Live Support......where did you see Live Support? I can't find it anywhere on the Staples website.

Well my in-laws get the memory and the packing slip indicates that they were charged $114.00.
Boy was I pissed, called Staples and they were all apologetic but i said who had the right to charge to my credit card a different amount than I was quoted without my permission? (Pretending to be my father-in-law). I said I was going to send back everything and never do business with them again. The only thing that saved the deal is i told them that my son-in-law got it for that price. So they check the order # i gave them and come back and say they will do it for the same price......Whew, that was close. This is pretty much dead I would say.
