i replaced the stock fan with an ati silencer which greatly reduced the noise. however, it was still the noisiest thing in my system, so i undervolted that down to 7v and all is well.

My PNY 6800 isn't bad, but it's not as quiet as my X800 pro. This card uses the nVidia stock cooler which is reasonably quiet when it drops down to low speed after the driver loads, but there is still some of that high frequency fan noise. Try it out and, as yoiu say, you can get the better cooler if you don't like the noise. Those coolers perform better too, of course.

It's still in stock. I ordered one but then canceled it 'cause I had a change of heart. My Geforce4 will miss me so much if I replace him. We've had so much fun together, I don't know what I'll do if we were apart..

By the way, anyone got one of these yet? I got the 6800 refurbed Leadtek card and it arrived with a lot of 3d artifacts.

I had a PNY 6800GT and a BFG 6800GT. Both running at equal speed (the BFG is overclocked over standard GT speed so I bumped the PNY to match) the PNY ran about 3 degrees C cooler than the BFG. And it wasn't nearly as loud.

I got one and it fully unlocks (16 pipes, 6 shaders). I have also overclocked it to 370/830 and it is rock stable. Included in the OEM box is an s-video cable, DVI to VGA adapter, molex splitter, and driver CD.

The unlock just barely failed The card runs perfectly at the stock 12x5, and at 12x6 (so i'm staying at 12x6) but with the extra pipes I get glitchy text. 3D is ok, but that still bugs me enough not to bother. The increase of the extra pipes isn't a ton anyway. I do plan on overclocking the core to as close to GT speeds as possible, but after I get a NV5 (will order tomorrow).
