PNY 6800 from CompuSA

Here is my history,

I´m in Brazil, and I have a friend in Detroit who took one of those PNY for me in black friday sale.

I sent him this photo:

And he confirm that the capacitor IS missing.

He will return to Brazil on December 11.

Once in Brazil, I can´t exchange the card.

My questions:

Can he exchange the card in CompUSA ? Is this a quick process?

Can the card works 100% without that capacitor?

Any chance to fix this capacitor here?

What shoul I do?

Return it. If a part's missing I wouldn't risk it not working properly then having to pay lots to get it repaired. If they don't have a replacement he can head to Circuit City and get an eVGA 6800, although it will be more in price. They weren't running the same deal PNY was.

Incidentally, if this was the Novi, Michigan CompUSA, Circuit City is just right up the street on the left.

But I´m not interested in spend nothing more, US$ 230,00 is already a big cash for us in Brazil.

Anyone here that have exchanged his PNY, in CompUSA?

How was the process?

Can you exchange it in one day?

I haven't exchanged hardware in a long time. But he should be able to take it there, go to the customer service desk, and they will allow him an exchange at the very least for the same model. I believe they would even refund his money, especially if it was defective or even if you decide against keeping it.
The whole process should take no longer than 20 minutes depending on the line. Just make sure you have the receipt as well.

BTW, $230 US is a lot of money for me too
