I'm sure there is another deal about the games, but it's worth-while to grab BF2 deluxe or Call of Duty2 for 19.99 with an instant $10 gift card. Buy the game, use the giftcard on the 7900GS. Worked for me (twice!). Euther the car is $139 or the game is $9.99. However you look at it, it seemed like a good idea to me.

Picked mine up today used the 12% off coupon and had 5 dollar reward zone points 135.88 out the door.
Many Thanks to the OP and to tbogstad for the heads up on the coupon

Nice deal!

And here's a reminder... today, November 15th, is the last day to use the 12% off coupon.

FWIW, I just got a 12% coupon in the mail good from 11/17 - 11/20. All stores by me are OOS, or I'd grab one. If I need to wait for them to receive it I'd rather see if a better deal pops up for BF at Fry's or on Cyber Monday.

I saw this deal in the BestBuy ad in the Sunday paper and ran out and grabbed one to replace my eVGA 6800GS. I have a smallish overclock to 500/1368 on my new 7900GS, and am scoring just under 8,000 in 3DMark05. Not bad at all for $150.

I just PM'd this to CompUSA without a problem. $149 plus tax out the door, plus I can still use the CompUSA rebate!

Can I ask if the number on the box actually has -CUS at the end as it shows on the COMPUSA site (I was denied because it had that on their website)? If so, does the box say DDR3 memory or just DDR?

this is replacing the quadro in my sun workstation (see below) -- is this a smart move? it's already ordered, picking it up at best buy 200 ft from my office as soon as i get out.

I believe Quadro is designed for ACad and other linear rendering programs. Depending on your work, you may actually get worse performance by switching to a gaming card designed to render 3D.

=/ i actually do a lot of 3D work (blender3d) -- but i'm abandoning my p4 machine (too noisy), going to use the sun computer exclusively. i suppose it won't be a total performance hit, just rendering will be affected

btw- if you're too lazy to price match like me, price for local pickup @ bb is $160 and change out the door.

I'm looking at the box that I got from BB and it does not have the CUS (it only has VCG7900SXPB). With that said, the card definitely uses GDDR3 memory.

I tried a COMPUSA near my home (see previous post about one near work saying they're different cards). This time the manager agreed they were the same and without me hearing told the cashier to ring up 179.99. When I saw it ring up, I asked where my $30 was to get to the BB cost? Answer, send in the $30 rebate. I called a CSR and they agreed rebates have to be taken into account when doing the PM. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor and got phone mail (dumped). I just can't believe my luck with PMing. Went to BB down the road and they had one left, wouldn't take the coupon so I went to the CS desk, signed up for reward zone and got the stupid card, this thing better be good, I'm frazzled.

Tom?s hardware reviewed this exact PNY card. Link

Here?s what they had to say about the fan noise:

?To make things better still, Nvidia heard the cries of its constituents and designed a better cooler for the GeForce 7900GS. While the heatsink itself is no different than the one on the GeForce 7900GT, the fan is a winner. Nvidia also enabled variable speed fan control on both of the new cards, so gamers will no longer have to hear the whine of a fan as it spins at high speed. In fact, the only time we heard it was under long-term use while looping 3DMark05, when the fan needed to ramp up under the excess heat of this torture test.?

The guys at toms must be deaf, because I just got this and it is crazy loud in anything but 2d. Also, adjusting the fan speed in rivatuner doesn't work like it did on my old evga card. Don't tell me you can't adjust the fan speed, if so it'll be going back. Anyone know how to adjust it? I have the latest rivatuner and nvidia drivers, but nothing happens when I set it.

Only store near me to pick it up is 20 miles away. Does bestbuy ship products from one store to another?

Well I installed the card and seems okay. Only problem I have to figure out is videos are really dark, when I bring up the Nvidia control panel, and then move my mouse pointer over any of the three choices, 3D, Display, video and TV, the picture brightens up, just by moving the mouse over it. If I close the panel and start another video, it's dark again. I'll have to fool around, search or find a support forum.

I picked mine up yesterday @ BB. Tried the CompUSA PM approach, they would only PM with the store across the street. They would not PM with the one 5 miles away because it was in another city. Of course, the one across the street is OOS, so they wouldn't PM. Good thing I had already stopped @ BB on the way home from work. Kinda ridiculous, but I guess it saves them money.

got one from Compusa, but would not get that extra 12% off. I am not sure if I want to keep this since the noise is too loud according to someone here.

ive been using ATI for a while. and have faithfully used the Omega Drivers instead of stock...
are there a good set of drivers to customize and optimize Nvidia?

I went into CompUSA yesterday with my printed copy of the BB deal.

They honored it (after calling BB to make sure the deal was alive and that they had some in stock... why does BB need them in stock? Lame.), and the total came to $163 after tax.

Then she printed out my $30.00 MIR... It will have cost $133 after its all done--too bad I missed that 12%!

You need to change the color profile for the "Overlay" setting. The Gamma should be at 1.0, but sometimes it goes down to 0.5.

I don't know how to do it in the new CP, but it was pretty easy in the old-style one.

nVidia's drivers are WAY better than ATI's, so there isn't much of a need for Omega (although last time I checked he did put out nVidia drivers as well?). They're very tweakable, and very stable.

I just got in on this deal and switched back to nVidia after having an ATI x1900 for the past couple months. I had a lot of problems with weird driver glitches, so I'm happy to be back.

My local store said they had some in-stock. I ordered online.

[BRAG]Went in to pick it up, they handed me a BFG 7900GT OC, with the $329.99 sticker still on it. Receipt I signed still shows $149+tax.[/BRAG]
