Yes, they have and I would have gotten 2 9600GTs (for ~$115/ea) in order to upgrade 2 PCs rather than the 1 8800GT (for $159.99) to upgrade 1 PC.

At least there haven't been any 8800GTs yet for less than I paid (unless you count the Buy.com deal which required the $20 GCO)

so if you live in this particular CA county you pay even more (1.5% more ) sales tax, than any other part of CA. fantastic.

newegg only has a city of industry location so its 7.25% for anywhere in CA. with $7 shipping this actually only is $8 less than the newegg deal if you live in my county sigh....

just watch, tommorrow the rebate will become $50 and it will be $99 just like the newegg deal (as in the newegg deal's rebate grew in size, not the newegg deal wsa $99).


i thinkt he only thing about this particular card that is not great (i have it from the newgg deal) is it doesnt come with an hdmi adapter (i already had one) and i have no idea where to buy the spdif cable from.

well no i meant that when newegg had the card, initially it was a $40 rebate and was $135 after rebate shipped.

then 2 days later, they changed the rebate to a $50 one and it became $125 shipped.

OK, I'll be the first with the obligatory "is this better than my [insert older video card here]" question. I currently have a 7900GS (that's not really that old!).... Of course I know it's "better" but how much of a performance increase can I expect?

I wish Tom's would hurry up with a Video Card 2008 Comparison....

I was just about to post this deal here when I saw somebody else already had...very good deal

Anyways, just look at the benchmarks Anandtech posted awhile, a 9600 GT by itself is pretty damn fast, SLI two of them together for $220 and you'll get similar performance of a 9800GX2, the fastest single video card right now.

Hell, two 9600GT's in SLi are faster then a 9800GX2 at 1920x1200 in COD4 and in several other games, in Crysis it's actually faster then a 9800GX2 at 2560X1600 resolution, only 1 frame faster and still unplayable...but still faster. To bad Crysis will never be playable, such a poorly coded game.

Bottom Line: $220-$240 for two 9600GT's is a steal....best deal ever

Damn these forums. I tried and tried to buy an AMD card, but this deal is just too good.

To any others thinking of buying this card - DON'T! Buy AMD, preserve competition! Without AMD alive and kicking, we wouldn't have $110AR cards of this power level! So stop looking here and go buy a 3870.
