its after $50 rebate

i actually bought a pny 8600gt from newegg at the end of february and got the rebate after 4 weeks. so they are pretty fast about it.

I just ordered one. It is going to replace my BFG 7900GS. I hope the difference in the cards will be noticable.

Just ordered mine. I plan to buy one later and finally use sli, to make my old x2 3800 and 7800gt run until the release of Nehalem. Also plan to up my monitor from its current 17in form to a 24 inch wide screen when Nehalem launches.

i guess it could be somewhat.

but the value is better at $135. much better. and similar performance.

that's why I went with $110 8800gs

From the reviews that I have seen, it appears the 9600GT is about equal to the 3870 in real-world perfomance (better in some games and worse in others), and you can get it for about $35 less than the 3870. The 9600GT is a lot less than the 8800GTS (about $85+ less) and the performance difference is just not worth it to me. I will be upgrading my system later this summer and will put the money saved on the 9600GT into the processor/motherboard upgrade.

its about as fast as the 3870 maybe a bit slower, but i tend to think the nvidia cards are more consistant.

radeons seem to be fast at some games and then much slower at others.


the 8800gts at $210 is a lot more expensive

I got the $151 deal a few weeks ago. No regrets....this price is great for a great card. Pretty equal to the 3870 and lower price and power draw. Very quiet too and my case stays pretty cool. I hear my Thermaltake CPU fan and don't think I know what the 9600gt sounds like, I never hear it.

I'm holding out until the XFX drops to the $100 or so range. I only spent $70 on my 7800gtx and it runs everything I play at the moment. The 9600gt is definitely gonna be my next upgrade though, seems like the best performance per watt card available, and runs much cooler than anything in the 8800/3800 series.

I wonder why myself, but I certainly can't complain. I had been thinking about getting an 8800GS, but I can't pass up on this deal.
