weird, it used to say "shipping aug 15" or something similar. This is still suspicious as it doesn't say it's in stock

Just ordered from there but it seems fishy cause they offer insurance as an option for lost or stolen packages...hey if i dont get my package its gonna be there responsibility...

why would they make insurance extra? If they use UPS or Fedex insurance is part of the price.... that does seem wierd... wonder if these are actually shipping?

UPC and FedEx have free $100 insurance/declared value coverage.
Anymore would have fees.
I guess if they don't pay for insurance they save more money. I mean it is free shipping anyways.

It is as user1234 said.

You're right about the first $100 being covered already for UPS (not sure about FedEx). And each additional $100 is *only* $0.35. So in this case, it would cost them an additional $1.05 for a total of $400 in insurance. How much are they asking for insurance?

I bought from them lots of stuff and was always statisifed, like my athlon64, audigy2 zs, even a 9600pro more than a year ago. Just take into account that it ships from NY, so if you're in CA it will take a week or so.

This is like my second order for tech items that i haven't been charged tax on ever. This is a hot deal imho for ca since you get hit with tax on most tech stores online.

I've never understood why insurance is a buyer preference. I mean isnt the seller responsible for getting the goods here? If they leave it on my door without signature and someone swipes it, I sure as hell aint paying the money and would dispute the charge. I would think most reputable vendors would insure everything they ship over $100 to cover themselves rather than making it optional to the buyer.

Just to get all you guys back to reality - first, future-power-pc has not yet shipped a single 6800 until today. The 6800 gt showed up on their website for the first time about 2 weeks ago, with the status "available while supplies last" but the product title had a comment which said "ETA 7/30". Recently the title changed to show ETA 8/15, that is - it's postponed more than 2 weeks from the original estimate. Today somehow the ETA comment disappeared, but the status remained "avail while supplies last" which is suspicious because the normal status for in tock items is "In stock". Just now I checked and the ETA comment is back - it says ETA 8/16 in the title, and also (this is new) in the status line. With the recent delays, I wouldn't count on 8/16 as the final date, that's why I ordered from a web site which actually has it in stock (compuplus), albeit at a higher price.

One more clarification is that since as I said this has been available for pre-order on their site for about 2 weeks now (it showed up on pricewatch.com), you can bet that even if you ordered today, there are lots and lots of people are ahead of anyone that orders now, so even if they do get a shipment in by 8/16, it may all be allocated already, so you're not guaranteed to get it even then.

The bottom line of all this is that there seems to be shortage right now, because demand is very high and supply for some reason seems to be very slow. Hopefully, this will pass, and you'll be able to walk into any store and buy it off the shelf, but who knows how long it would take for the shortage to be over (it could be a couple of months). Just take that into account if you're trying to save a few bucks and play the backorder waiting game. But if you're willing to pay a little more, you could jump to the head of the line. So finally it's your decision - save $50 and wait a couple of months, or pay a little more and get it now.

Are you sure you just didn't order 5 minutes ago, and are trying to get the rest of us to cancel so you move up on the order list?

No I ordered from compuplus, because I already played the waiting game in another website, and after a few weeks I decided to give that up and go find a place that has it in stock, even if I have to pay a little more (I was ok with paying up to 450).

Heck, if you wait 3-4 months, after the initial sale boom and supply shortages are over, I'm almost sure you'll be able to get deals for around 350. So that's another option for you - wait 4 months and you could save even more.

Gee, funny how someone ended up posting this "deal" when I (back)ordered this card from FuturePowerPC a couple days ago. At the time I placed my order, the ETA was 8/10. And their site listed that date for at least a week too.
