Hi folks,
i recently puchased a PNY Geforce FX 5600 w/ 256MB.
I'm replacing a Visiontek TI 4600. Shutdown the system, slapped in the new card, powered up. Installed latest Detonator drivers.
For the most part the card seems to be functioning well. However i see some artifacts on the screen that come and go. I don't think it's a windows or driver thing since i see the artifcats on the screen even duing POST at boot up. I also see them in game (i mostly play games like Everquest).
Even though i didn't think it was a driver thing i've tried different drivers, have the latest BIOS upgrade on my Gigabyte GA-8INXP and have tried numerous different settings within the BIOS. I've disable all the OC'n in the BIOS so RAM/AGP/CPU are all running at stock voltages.
I also tried patching windows but that just caused more problems so i rolled back to a pre-patch state.
Performance of the card in game is pretty bad considering ..... my Ti 4600 performs better than it does.
Any ideas ?? Do i just have a bad card ??
the support site at PNY is pretty much useless when it comes to the FX series of their cards .. went through the nVidia FAQ's and not much to do there.
