My old computer had GeForce2 MX400 and I never had probelms playing CS. With FX5200, I was having a hard time with the game. I went to BestBuy to return the card but they were close today(Easter Sunday). I'm getting the ATI 9500 PRO 128MB instead, its another $100 bucks but hey I'll feel better playing the games online. Since I still have the card, I'll try downloading Riva Tuner and see what improvement I get.
I'm looking forward to seeing your results. Is it possible that there was some sort of driver conflict or installation glitch with the 5200? Surely the 5200 (even if it is the slowest of the new Nvidia cards) should eat an MX400 for lunch.
At some point could you run 3DMark2001SE w/the 5200? It would be interesting to see the fill rates for that card. Thanks again for the updates.
My FX5200 performs better than my old GF4MX440 so it should perform better than a MX400!
With 3dmark 2001 SE the fill rate for my FX5200 is:-
Fill Rate (Single-Texturing) 628.1 MTexels/s
Fill Rate (Multi-Texturing) 731.4 MTexels/s
With 3dmark 2001 SE the fill rate for my GF4MX440 is:-
Fill Rate (Single-Texturing) 443.1 MTexels/s
Fill Rate (Multi-Texturing) 845.6 MTexels/s
The main problem with the FX5200 is the drivers, the two main problems are poor RTCW and Serious Sam 2 performance, ie sub GF4 MX440 level.
