PNY Quadro FX series?

Just wondering not gonna buy one. How do they compare to the 6800 series?

I believe they're for graphic stations, etc. Their not used for ... gaming. Maybe that will explain why they aren't tested in game benchmarks, etc?

quadro's are not comparable to the geforce cards. quadro's are optimized for 2d graphics performance and while they would probably put up respectable numbers in the 3d realm, that is simply not what they are made to do. it's like asking a ferrari to tow a boat--it has enough power to do it, it's just not right.

they are so expensive because their drivers are tested and retested so that they can be certified to work with popular industrial software like autocad, catia, solidworks, etc. these are workstation class cards and they are priced as such

The Quadro 4 series is a lot better priced, and from what I've read, just as good (depending on the application of course).

The quadro series are used for workstations, mainly for 3d rendering and the like, they arent great at gaming because thats not what they are for. They assist mainly in openGL apps such as lightwave and maya

yeah, they really arent that fast at all for games, a 6800 would destroy them, but that isnt what they are for. They are so expensive because the drivers are better (tested over and over) and they are designed to be accurate - far more accurate than any mainstream card. They arent designed for 2d as said above, they are designed for 3d rendering mainly in things like AutoCAD, ProEngineer, and IDEAS. We have a few work stations in our campus engineering lab w/ Quadro cards for just that purpose.

Like others have said they arent meant for games, but they do game pretty well slighlty slower than the generation they come from ie Quadro FX 3000 is comparable to the top of the line GeForce FX. They are the same chip, just the Quadro has some extra functions turned on, and has optimized driver for CAD and Content Creation.
