PNY Ti4200 128MB 8X problem

I am having problem with this card (PNY 128MB 8X, 250/513). UT2003 and 3DMark2001SE cr@p out...GPF!!!
My specs:
ANTEC Smartpower 300W
ABIT KT7A
AMD 1700+
512 SDRAM
AGP set at 4X (mobo's max)
64MB aparture

3dMark2001SE made it through one loop. UT2003 cr@p out when the game begin. My old 8500LE ran fine on both apps. I tried different driver including the latest 43 detonator, same cr@p. One thing I notice, if I have PNY installed, during WIN XP start up I can see the screen flash/flicker for a few times and then boot into logon screen. Last thing to try is to reinstall directX 8.1 but I doubt it cause it ran fine when I install my radeon8500LE. Any ideas? how' PNY RMA?

For starters which Antec 300watt PSU do you have? Really all of Antecs 300 watters are crap
but the really old ones are crap's crap.

Did you remove all your ATI driver? If not remove them by doing a search for ati then remove only the ati drivers and dll's.

Oh and 350watts is the recommended minimum PSU for a Ti4200 , Id be willing to bet that this is your problem.

my antec power comes with my SLK2600 case... I though antec psu (even the smartpower) is pretty good. I'll be damned if the psu is the problem....

Dell 4550
Intel Board
P4 2.4B
512 PC2100 DDR Ram
250W power supply!!!

Everything runs great and it beats the crap out of the standard Mx420. So far so good with the PNY Ti4200 128M, 8x, 250/513. I wonder if I should upgrade the power supply before something starts to smoke....

So did you try manually completely removing all your old ATI drivers?

Also if you upgraded Nvidia drivers, did you try one of the Nvidia driver removal tools first? Have you tried DX9?

I don't have any flicker when I boot into Windows XP. I've made it through 3DMark2001SE without a problem, although I have never tried UT2003. BF1942, Medal or Honor, Hitman 2, plus all others I've tried have worked.

Here is what I would try (as mentioned by others in this thread)
Completely uninstall old drivers, reference to the card.
Completely reinstall all new drivers (DirectX also)
If that doesn't work it is either the card or the PSU and the only way to test that would be to swap one of them out and see what happens.

Just an update:

I installed the pny card on my second computer(250W, win2k, DX9, matrox) and it works flawlessly, not even a flicker. Anyway, seems like I am down to old drivers hanging somewhere. I did use the nvidia driver removal tool to no avail. My suspect is I need to hunt all old ATI driver. If it still wont work, than depending on I mood, I reinstall XP
