I saw this at Tigersirect. Price is $69.97 and AR is $39.97. I don't know if this is a good card and whether it is a good price. I am in the market for a good video card and missed out on the last one at BB last month.

Anybody know if you can boot up to the TV out (without a monitor connected)?

Yes you can but quality is terrible... Don't expect to read any font smaller than 24... don't expect to shoot anyone on sof2 unless they are 5 steps away

Please put TigerDirect in the title of your thread so people can choose between not wasting their time or clicking through so they can flame away at this TigerDirect post.

Thanks (Pothead too). Is this true of this card only or all cards? And will DVD playback be terrible as well?

I haven't checked out this rebate but from what I know they're a joke because of the small window that they're valid and then you end up missing the date that they're due.

TV does not give good quality... nothing the card can do to make it look better

I am new to GeForce card, can any knowledgeable people explain to me what are the differences among GeForce, GeForce MX and GeForce Ti line? Is the GeForce 4 is necessary better then GeForce3 and GeForce2 family? thanks.

i think this is right

gf2 ultra < gf4 mx < gf3 ti200 < gf3 < gf3 ti500 < gf4 ti4200 < gf4 ti4400 < gf4 4800 se < gf4 4600 < gf4 4800 < gf fx 5800 ultra

I'm not quite sure where to place the fx 5600 ultra and the fx 5200 ultra, I haven't read enough reviews. My guess would be around the gf4 ti4200 levels though.

as for 'better', 2d quality visually improves the higher you go and the more frames per second you get in games.

WARNING- There seems to be some confusion as to whether this is the original Geforce 3 or the TI500... I "think" the picture is of a original GF3, and the part number they list (at the bottom) is for the original GF3 (as per the rebate form), but they list the TI500 in the middle. If i were a guessing person, i'd guess this is the original, not the TI500, and that it doesn't have the S-Video "TV-Out" if the pic is correct.

You can also get the TI500 for $20 more, which DOES appear to have S-Video (TV) Out, but IMHO it's not worth 50% more $.

They also have a pretty good after-rebate price on the PCI and AGP Geforce 4 MX440SE $25 AR.

The REBATE is the same, must be postmarked within 14 days of purchase date.

Frys B&M / Outpost.com also have a $50 rebate for the GeForce4 64MB DDR - both AGP AND PCI - all month.

The regular price is $99 before manufacturer's rebate (not Frys, which take FOREVER), fulfilled by Parago (Miami, Fl). Last week, my local Frys had it for $25 after MIR Download here.

For some reason, only the PCI version seems to be available online. The San Diego store had LOTS of both versions last week.

Thanks for the post. Part no. is for the non ti500, but is called a ti500 GeForce 64mb card at TD. Just a heads up, rebate form says "checks will be mailed 6-8 weeks after closing date of program". 8 weeks after 6-30-03? And dealing with TD if you get a dead/damaged card, not what I'm looking for.

The GeForce3 card at TD would smoke that POS GeForce4 MX 858diver. The GF4 MX is not even the same league as the GF3.

Interesting, I got this card from tigerdirect about a year ago for my 2nd computer. Got the rebate in about 4 months. Shipping is always high and on and on ........................but the card works really good for me. For comparison between cards discussed here look.....Tom's vga chart

Note very good reseller ratings >>> 5.92

May want to read some of the reviews. It appears Tiger Direct is responding to the "Very Dissatisfied" ones but it is not clear they really are setting things right.

Aww, not again. That is so weak.

I thought they pulled the last TD add from AnandTech after people kept starting threads with examples of how TigerDirect screwed them over...

CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT WHY (you may never get that rebate)

Also, if you're thinking they've changed, other boards report: "They ripped me off 3 weeks ago, sent me a wrong item number, refuse to make full refund..."

Great link! I can't ask for better info. No way will I order from these punks. I would rather pay a little extra for better ease of mind. The last thing I want to do is spend my time to dispute.

The GF2 Ultra is better than the GF4 MX 440, from tests at Tomshardware, but not the 460. (won't even talk about the 420).

You only have 14 days from the date of the sale to mail out the rebate. So, if it takes a week to get it via UPS, then there are only 5-6 days left to get the rebate mailed. Hmmm....

GeForce3 500 for $40...good deal, but be careful of Tigerdirect.
