Well melect I feel badly that you are frustrated. Had I known that my post was going to cause grief I wouldn't have bothered posting. I was only trying to add my experience to this. If you buy something that I scanned with my laser vision and it doesn't work please return it within 14 days to be safe and get another...who knows it may be the winner. As for hypers comment. If you buy all the same things on different recipts and send one to your grama, one to your uncle and one to your sister as well as the one to yourself....that makes 4 and it works. As for length of time for rebates...I agree it will take forever and he was an idiot. That is his choice.

is it a PNY rebate going to rebateshq?

if it is, I wouldn't be too worried.

I bought one got 128 inside from compusa bak in feburary. mailed it the next day and got my check 1 month later. I was even emailed.
even though some people were saying it would take forever.

There were still four on the shelf till one man came in yesterday and bought them all to return on sunday and get them for $89 after mir... So he could resell them I'm sure

Curiosity? You opened 3 of the 4? With no intention of buying? Too much free time on your hands....

good for you. these assclowns bitching at you have never worked in retail and never experienced the "joy" of opening a store on balck friday or running a register for 12 hours straight. they're just lucky that we're not armed. fight on brotha.

Are these worth the $? I have a Geforce2 MX400, but the FX cards are coming out or have, how much of a price drop will there be within the next few months on these cards?

You know as well as i do them video card prices drop like rocks after each new model introduction. then it stablizes at around $40~50 range to serve entry level workstations.

Same ole' same old story. Basically yer paying $100 for the ti4200 after rebate plus taxes. About twenty dollars more than the previous "smoking" deal. Upside is that these seem to be newer cards. More downside would be , no more lucky 128megs in 64meg box situation.

At 100 it's cheaper than the cheapest newegg which is 118 +tax(cal residents only) + shipping. about 20 dollar savings against no name brand ti4200 from new egg.

It's your call.

As for me, I have doubts about this purchase. For one, the savings aren't "that great" Two, I don't NEED the video card like when i had voodoo3 and it was sucking ass. Every game i have that i play plays just fine at 40 ~ 60fps. So, hmm... All good things come to those who wait eh?

Yeah, They had two at my BB, both with no sticker, I got a blue one, its 64mb. It has a silver heatsink/fan, no face. Kinda noisy

The performance in BF1942 is barely anything, coming up from a GF2MX400. Everything is still jumpy.

He was probably doing that instead of helping customers. That's my problem with Beast Buy.

BTW.. What did you do with the opened cards? Did your store end up selling them as open box items?

Went out to BB today to check out the card situation. They had 6 or 7 of them left at the Roanoke, VA store. We don't have a compusa here so the prices never went down below the $169. The card now rings up as $129 and there is a $40 rebate. I picked one up and I suspect it is only a 64mb card Oh well $89 for a ti4200 still isn't all that bad. Good luck to anyone else who tries.

After Reading this new Thread, I gave up on getting the 128MB PNY Deal in a 64MB Box. So, I decided to open a PNY Box that I bought at Best Buy a couple of weeks ago, it had "the 64mb crushes 128 sticker" so I assumed that I should not open it and maybe use it to swap for a non stickered version. Unbelievable.. I open it up and behold a clearly marked 128MB TI4200 8XAGP card.
Maybe my luck is changing.......

I couldnt help it, I went back and got the last one. It is the same as the other one. both with no sticker, both were the blue ones, its 64mb. It has a silver heatsink/fan, no face. They have a sticker that says "64mb kit" on the actual card.

Winchester, try overclocking it. Mine will O/C to 310/640 before any artifacts/lockups happen. That is over Ti4600 speeds!

Alas, too bad I am going to keep the 9500 I just ordered from Newegg, this one will just have to go back to BB

Scored one 128MB purple TI4200 in Poughkeepsie NY. The reason? We didn't have the $79 deal 2 week ago and the ones on shelf are from the old (i.e., per-blue PCB) batches.

As I previously said, We don't sell open box graphics cards at my bb. If something comes in and the shrink wrap doesn't look nice we redo it to make it look nice. All four cards were sold as new. Which as far as i'm concerned they were. They were never even removed from the box. I just looked in. This was done after the store closed and there were no customers in the store. As for my interest in seeing if I could find one of these cards... like I said I was just curious. I have a 32mb gf2 gts and it works just fine for tribes 2. That is about all I play. I had one of the 4200s on order from bb.com for $80. ($84 with tax) But i cancelled because I couldn't afford it. I got one of the $20 netgear routers instead. Now that was a good deal.

Got a 64Mb 8X Sunday from BB. Silver HSF, and Ram sinks.

Overclocked right now to 300/575. I had tried 325/600 but it locked up. When I get more time I'll try a little more, plus more cooling. Runs great compared to my GF2 GTS 64MB I got several years ago. U2K and BF1942 run rock solid, no probs.

I never did end up with a 128mb card, but I got a purple 64mb 8xagp that is running stable at 320mhz core and 651mhz memory. My 3dmark 2001 is around 11300 with a p4 2.4. It looks like unless you find old stock somewhere the free 128mb upgrade is gone.
