I'm about to get the Sony Clie PEG-N760C due to the price drop. Of course I'll be getting the extended warranty at CompUSA I just wanted to make sure I am making the right decision. I need it to be able to whip out any little peice of info I may need without having to set up my laptop and wait for it to boot. I love my Dell Inspiron 8100 but it is just not practical to pull it out in the line of Wendy's to get a phone number or try to organize my time. So, what would you do? Get a PocketPC such as the Compaq H3835 or go with the less expensive, Clie N760? I just dont know what to do.

It depends on what you're trying to do. The Clie is more or less the best Palm series to date, and is ideal if you want a palm. However, a Palm is a PDA(personal digital assistant), not a laptop replacement. A PocketPC device will be able to do things such as play movies, MP3s(or is it the Clie 760 that is the Sony Palm that does MP3's ), run Pocket Word, ect; but would cost you cash, battery life(on average), and size. That said, if all you're looking for is a PDA, go with the Clie, otherwise, get a PocketPC.

PS If you do get the Clie, pick up a copy of Serious Sam for the Palm. I've heard good things about it

I like PALM OS for the fact that there are 100's of little useful apps for it. BTW, what price is the N760 at now?

ViRGE is giving you an unbias and frank opinion (about his comparison).

So choose wisely, and yes, the 760 does mp3.

As for Serious Sam, hum, that's another story; it's really pretty bad

Pocket PC for play and general screwing around. For extended work go Palm. That includes being able to travel and work over a period of several days. Pocket PCs are fun toys, but they don't have the legs for real work.

Of the Pocket PCs, the HP Jornada 567/568 is only one I know of that has removable batteries so you can carry spares. That has possibiliies, but they are expensive.
