Has anyone tried any of the snes/nes emulators for pocket pc's? How well does it work? How smoothly does it run? What is your experience with it? What kind of pocket pc do you have? How well do the controls work? Any info would be great. Thanks.
I have tried both pocket nes and pocket snes. I have a HP3955 with xscale 400mhz processor. Pocket snes misses way to many frames. In fact its not really usable. the programed it just to do it, I don't even think the programmers use it. Pocket nes on the other hand rulz. I use it a couple of hours a week (over two hours today). Set it up to skip one frame and play without music. It works beautifully. I'm plugging my way through SMB3 right now. That game is harder than I remember. My favorite feature is the ability to save your game anywhere you want to and come back later. It drains battery like you wouldn't believe but I love it. You can find any game rom you want (provided that you own the origional).
BTW I also use pocket c64 for some old time gaming.
Thanks for the info guys. Why is it that the snes emulator doesn't work??? It works fine on a desktop 400mhz machine........is there a huge difference in speed b/w a pocket pc 400mhz and desktop 400mhz? I imagine there are some huge architectural differences. Or is it just the display??? Good information though, I can't wait to play some nes games.
PocketNES is a fantastic program. The rumor is that the guy who wrote it is working on a SNES emulator, so I have hope for its future. As of today, however, there does not exist a SNES emulator that runs well.
