I'm level 11, 150 pokemon, over half are dupes, I live near Chinatown in nyc so there is a lot of landmarks. I just walk a few blocks and play. Not many streets and no highways to contest. Just lots of people.

How many pokemon do you think you are encountering per hour? Lets say your walking for 1 hour non stop? Just wondering because I'm walking loops around my local park and I get like 1 pokemon every 10mins or so. Which is super long :'(

When I was in chinatown last night with my son, it was an 8 block walk, I racked up 34 pokemon and at least 40 pokestops. When we walked back home we stopped at a park midway where there were around 100-150 people all playing. we caught around 20 more. I literally had 4 pokemon within catchable range all the time I was out. We all laughed and talked and shot the breeze as we played. I assume being in NYC and especially in a massively cultured neighborhood has its benefits. We dont have to walk miles and miles, walk in the streets or rural roads, get robbed or hit by cars. So, yea, the pokemon go might seem absurd and dangerous for rural folk, but for us city folk its fun and easy as hell and very social.

Pokestops refresh every 5 minutes. Total blocks walked to and back around 16. Hell, there are 3 pokestops on my block that I hit up every now and then.

If you don't want to roam all over the place, I'd find a pokestop near a lot of students who are more likely to be using lures. I work near a university and the kids keep a couple of the stops swirling pink pretty much all morning.

If the pokestops are pinkish instead of blue and have some swirling confetti, someone has used a lure. This brings all the pokemon to the yard.
