My buddies and I have a bi-weekly game of poker we play to pass the time and I'm wondering if anyone has any favorite poker games they'd like to share. I'll start off to show what I mean. This is my favorite poker variant thus far, read the rules twice, and you?ll get it.
Follow the Queens
1 - Dealer calls the prices of queens/ follows and states whether the pot stays if no queen comes down face up (don't worry, I'll explain this later). Basically all queens are wild, and the card dealt after a queen is called a follow, and it is also wild (unless another queen comes down, in which case the follow will become the number following the second queen).
The dealer then calls the price a player who receives a face up queen has to add to the pot, and the price a player receiving a follow has to add to the pot (both can be free and typically the queen is more expensive than a follow, this is not a rule though). On with the procedure.
2 - Everyone antes to get cards.
3 - Two face down cards are dealt to all players, followed by one face up. A round of betting ensues
4 - Once everyone has called, every player gets one more face up card. A round of betting ensues
5 - Rinse and repeat till everyone has 4 face up cards
6 - A card is now dealt face down to all the players, which is followed by another round of betting leading to everyone showing their hands
7 - Highest hand wins the pot.
However, if the dealer so chooses, he/she can call "no queen, no game", which means if no queen comes on to the table face up, the hands are re-dealt (to anyone who didn't fold) and the pot stays.
Example: Say me and a friend are the only people in the game, and I am dealt two cards face down, + a queen of hearts face up. The next card dealt to my friend is a 10 of Diamonds. This means that all 10s are wild unless another queen comes down, if say I get another queen, and my friend is the dealt a 3 of spades, all the threes become wild and the tens revert back to normal cards.
