When people can speak the truth and stop lying their immoral asses off - yea there are a lot of dummies out there that have no clue what is the truth - i'm not talking about them - i'm talking about the guys (and now a few gals) who know the truth and stir up the fire for political gain. It is one thing to take the truth and talk embellish or tweak it a little for political gain it is another to light fires based on false hood for personal gain.

Anyway i've always tried to vote for the person and do not behold to any party BUT the current republican leadership redefine corruption and slimeballs to a new level. People like Jordan, Comer and of course Trump.

I don't dislike Trump because hes a republican - i've hated him for at least 2 decades because he is a decadent slime ball and instead of rising to the challenge when elected president he demonstrated his character - no worse and no better than he did 20 years ago.

What get me is the 'moral right' using him as a role model when he has such a long history of being a con man with no ethics or morality.

Dems want everyone to have affordable healthcare, the ability to vote, to be able to afford a house. Going by Project 2025's stated intentions for a comparison, I'd say no, your premise sounds extremely fucking false. I've yet to meet a liberal who is in favor of deporting people based on religion or ethnicity. Same for giving teachers guns, making women 2nd class citizens, or allowing minors to get married and give birth. Likewise I've never heard a magat support easier voting, the proper separation of church and state or advocate for health care reforms that prevent people from going bankrupt who are just trying to stay alive.

I recommend ignoring it, as well as steering clear of BothSides in any form. Keep in mind you're dealing with a cult, one without an analog on the left.

Well then I have good news; repugs are not half of the country. They're barely half of all registered voters.

Team Treason is outnumbered by rational Americans 2 to 1, but yeah, it's a testament to hate and misinformation, not to mention more confirmation that while it might be easy to con people, it's really hard to convince those people they've been fooled. Facts and math be damned, it's all just fake news. These assholes will go blue in the face over 13 Americans dying in the Afghanistan pull out, yet nothing but crickets and denial over Dear Leader's ego making him responsible for 763,000 Americans dead from covid19.

Facts don't matter, numbers don't matter; only feels and fear. Basically it's the primary mission of Fox Noise and talk radio, and it works especially well on those with little education or exposure to the outside world. Just remember when you are indulging one of their narratives, you're helping the cult. I prefer to make them feel stupid every chance I get, and thankfully with magats this is pretty easy. There's looking at the facts on the ground and disagreeing about what they mean. You might be able to find some middle ground there, because you have a common reality to come back to.

Then there's just making up facts. This is where "we" are. So no, there's no "coming together" when one side says up is down. I have Trumpers in my life that I can't or won't excise but we have a strict no-politics unspoken rule to make this work. So weird when you have family, or friends, that have everything else in common with you but when politics comes up they launch into some land out of Willy Wonka. My coworker (a fricking data analyst of all things) and his "Bill Gates is trying to depopulate the world with the Covid vaccine somehow over 5G". I was completely gobsmacked when this normally rational person went off on that but it's been that way when talking to almost any Republican (though surely not quite that looney).

Same thing with an atheist and creationist talking about how the world came to be. Been there, done that! Two different set of "facts", no way to really make them compatible.

Best that can be hoped for is unarmed coexistence where you ignore the incompatible and even that seems iffy.

I am pretty new to this department of the anandtech forum. It took me a while to get used to the big long threads, but now I am seeing a benefit in that you can basically work from page 1 to avoid having to go fishing. I am getting with the program now.

That stereotype was always promoted by the NY con men that have been fleecing the rural farmer types since the 18th century.

I can't accept a party that constantly try to shutdown the democratic process in a country that i consider democratic. Every freaking chance they get they want to {keep people from voting, keep opposition candidates they don't like from running, rewrite election history, overthrow elections, ...} i mean really that enough by itself to create a massive divide.
