Definately get polarized. Dropped ~$300 on a pair of polarized oakleys last year and they are the best pair of sunglasses I have owned yet. I suggest doing the same!

You don't notice it at first. But once you've worn them for a while and then make the mistake of grabbing a non-polarized pair you realize just how much better those polarized lenses are.

It's pretty much a requirement for long drives on sunny days. The *ONLY* negative I have about polarized lenses is that they wash out LCD dispays. It makes it tough to read the radio display in my truck as well as the trip computer depending on the angle that I look at them.

I recommend getting several types of sunglasses if possible. I got one for driving, one for sports, one for casual, and one for formal occasions. All must be polarized.

Polarized for sure. I bought some flexible frames that were upwards of $100 because I'm pretty hard on my frames, and they were most certainly worth it.

I was in Best RipOff the other day with my polarized RX Ray Ban's on and I couldn't read the debit card display. I kept tilting it to get a better angle. Same thing happened with my ancient Nokia cell before I got a replacement.

Another weird thing is when you look at factory tint on another car's rear window. You can usually see the circular pattern in it that (at least to me) is completely invisible to the naked eye.

i wonder how many people say polarized simply because its something to have

for me, polarized is necessary only if you do watersports... otherwise, it has the downside of washing out displays... phones, gps, cars, mp3 players, etc

i love my polarized sunglasses. they are persol's and i wear them all the time. i paid almost $200 for them, but since i wear sunglasses a lot and because of the price im extra careful with them.

and yes, the tint thing the above post'er mentioned is pretty neat.

I'm gonna go against the grain and say I'm not wholly impressed with my polarized Oakleys. I have the non-polarized version and the difference isn't that significant to me - that combined with the fact that polarized SGs can give you rainbow effects with tinted windows and reduce/eliminate LCD visibility (i.e. nav systems in cars) has me using my nonpolarized Square Eyes more.

Polarized is the way to go. They take a lot of strain off your eyes and reduce glare big time. Definitely worth it IMO.

I have a pair of Ray Ban's that are polarized and I love them. I wear them all the time except when I'm cycling primarily because they have a tendancy to slide down my nose when I sweat.

You are going to believe his single opinion over 85 people here who voted for polarized?

Not for me. I use to buy cheap glasses, and would constantly lose or break them. I was so careless because they were so cheap, easily going through a pair every month or two. Since i got my Oakley's Juliets, i haven't lost them yet... and it's been almost 3 years now.

that means little if those 85 people don't really know much about polarization.

people equate polarization to better optics.. but its not true. like the guy above who said "Other sunglasses just darken your view."... um, thats why people wear sunglasses. (perhaps what hes looking for are clear polarized lenses like a camera filter).

a TV with PIP means it has PIP feature--not that it is better than other TVs without PIP.

get polarized glasses IF YOU NEED IT.... otherwise, it'll do more annoyance than anything.

whatever, its your money

ive had 2 pairs of oakleys non-pol, 1 smith non-pol, 1 rudy project non-pol, 1 smith pol, 1 peppers pol

Why can't you wear polarized sunglasses??

I buy a new pair of polarized sunglasses at least every other year. (Flex plan money to use up at the end of the fiscal year) Mine are prescription polarized sunglasses and I've never loved a pair of glasses more than them. I wear glasses from the moment I'm awake until minutes before I fall asleep. They're good for cutting glare. I fish a lot, and they're exceptional at helping me see by the water (and into the water where glare from the sun would interfere).

fwiw, you can get prescription glasses for all sorts of glasses. I also have prescription swim goggles. This year, I plan on getting a set of prescription polarized glasses that curve more around my eyes for cycling. (I need more eye protection than I get, and at 45+ mph on hills and such, it sucks to have your eyes watering from all the wind blowing into them.)
