People need to just swallow their pride sometimes and avoid confrontations, esspecially with the police. In the end its not worth the headache.

That is wrong judgement from the cop, she freaked out, and a person with that much responsibility should not do anything close to that.

Look, genius, all she knew about this guy at the time was that he was a law-breaker. How many laws does this guy feel don't apply to him? Maybe he's gonna grab something and throw it at the clerk? Who knows, he'll probably do nothing, but he's demonstrated contempt and disregard for the laws of the land and civil authorities, so he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt.

Ask your social studies teacher about this tomorrow during recess. K?

Ok, moron, lets pretend that people have the ability to act civil and that you have reading skills!!!
First, the cop never asked his side of the story.
Second, the cop talked to the clerk and atleast partially knew some of the story.
So, therefore, the cop knew it was a minor disturbance.

The cop acted completely out of line. He never attacked her. She egged him on trying to get him to attack her. She did not honor his rights as a citizen. The entire ordeal is ridiculous and whether or not you like the OP you should realize this. If the situation was changed and you were the OP you would acknowledge it as well. I just can not understand why someone would agree with the cop in this story. I just don't get it.

How was the safety of the police officer threatened

Hopefully anyone here who is defending physical assault by police officers gets assaulted by a police officer some day even when they never threatened the safety of the officer.

Heh, i don't know what you're implying but i'm reading physics on a university. So much for social studies. Which you need btw.
Unjustified violence by a cop? No matter what she thinks (she infact had no reason to see him as a danger), she had no damned right to hit him to the floor.

gee , i wonder why you had a problem

argueing with a police officer, so shocking that you had trouble

next time when the owner/worker of a PRIVATE business tells you to get lost, then you need to leave

next time a police officer tells you to get lost, then you need to leave

so shocking that you got arrested, gee whizzer , what is the world coming to

A clerk at, say, Wal-Mart can't refuse to sell you something because he just wants to. Even if he is first rude to you, and you call him a jerk, he still has no grounds to refuse the sale.

Sure he can. Do you really think that the government can make a business sell to someone, as long as it's not discrimination against a protected class?

You seem to forget that you're also seeing a one-sided story. Your entire last paragraph is filled with assumptions. Did the thought occur to you that the OP may have left something out to lean the story to his favor?

The OP did not honor the officer's authority as a police officer. If you're told to stop, you stop. No ifs, ands or buts about it.

Refusal to comply with a lawful command? Hands (probably) not in sight -- potential of him pulling a weapon after being verbally resistant?

I've seen a guy get taken down by two male officers after he nonviolently resisted arrest. It's legal.

Because he mouths off on a message board he deserves to get brutalized by the police? Of course, this is the same forum of people who would rip a guy's lungs out for killing a dog, or for protesting at a soldier's funeral. Of course, I have the feeling that if anybody here were actually pointing that gun at Phelps's head they'd have a lot more difficulty doing it than they have talking about it.

What it comes down to is we have a forum full of people who don't like Proletariat (or his online persona) and use it as a way to justify police brutality. This isn't even about him, it's about the cops. Unfortunately people can't see past their petty e-grudges to give a damn about that. I don't care if he was "resisting arrest" (trying to get back up after being slammed into the ground?) or wouldn't leave the premises right away, I don't care what he should have done, breaking a minor law does not give cops the right to attack you.

Thank you.
Forsythe, I have no idea why you support Proletariat so completely given his poorly explained situation other than you are a fan of his politics, whatever they may be... all I know is the guy was an ass towards me and it appears I am not the only one.

It takes effort in the USA to get messed with by the cops. They would rather finish their shift and not have to fill out the paperwork involved with crap like this.

I've had run-ins with the cops in my younger days including something that could be considered "brutality" but looking back, with an earned older perspective, I don't fault the cop a bit. He didn't know what this young adult was capable of.

Bottom line... Proletariat has made a habit of crapping on people. He crapped on a store clerk and when told the cops were on the way, waited to crap on the cops... and the buck stopped there. I am sure someday he will see what a pain in the ass he was, lol.

This assumes his story is true which is another issue by itself.

jeez you jackasses, he didn't resist arrest. He didn't get arrested, he was free to go (he ended up leaving) and was not cited.

I'm very disappointed though - injuries include large scrapes/gashes on both knees, bruise on head, stiches on hand, and handcuff cuts.

I have no criminal record.

Let's explain it in terms any nerd will understand:

By not leaving the store after told by the cop, he got the First Star.
Backtalking and then leaving when he was told to stop got him up to Second Star.
At second star, you're fair game for the police.

Who said GTA can't be educational?

I am really sorry to hear this. Don't be afraid of cops. They will try to do anything so that things become "their way." Unfortunately you have been mistreated by authorities. But thankfully you are still alive. For all we know, they could have just used their most lethal weapon, a firearm, and perhaps could have taken your life away. So be thankful for that much, being alive.

In the meantime, if you can get their names/badge numbers and the location it took place at, try your best to make sure these cops are brought to the fullest possible punishment by law. I'd schedule an appointment with the sheriff and the head of the sheriff, and try to talk to them, to sort something out, because the lawyer that you have, from the sounds of it, is not working the "chain of command." They are literally, either lazy or really hard working, for them it usually just goes one way or the other, to get paid and work are the two factors for laywers, on what degree of pay and work they do are entirely up to that indivitual.

Obviously, you are going to have to put up with a lot, if you really want something to happen. Let your family and friends know that they need to cover your back if anything extreme happens. It wasn't too long ago, that Martin Luther from the Dark Ages and Martin Luther King from our Vietnam Days - tried to do what they needed to do in order to bring justice to the next level.

Society should never fear cops, never. They have been entitled from the start of their jobs, to protect communities, not reign terror and dominion according to their desires. Our taxes pay for their work, and as far as work goes, is also very quantity-measuring by the amount of comfort one is willing to let go of. Speaking of which, you are going to have to do some work if you really want to avenge what has happened to you, just as a great church leader once said, "Forget yourself and go to work." -Gordon B. Hinkley

In remarks and conclusion, I'd have to say that people will abuse their power as long as they have choice. But opposites exist, and I do believe that there are a lot of hard working indivituals out there who want to bring to past the further meaning of positive relations to human life and what we must stand for.

p.s. I bet if those abusive cops have a family of their own; they are either wife-beaters (possibly divorced) and/or child molesters, pornographers or child abusers as well. Don't let them get away with torturing you, work with the community - and you will become invulnerable from fear and rejection.

Seriously, hope it works out for you man.

I honestly look like a normal guy. I was in my work clothes - Dockers Khakis and a dress shirt.

I wasn't saying anything political. The clerk at a Shoppers Food Warehouse was repeatedly rude to me. I called him a jerk. He refused to sell anything to me (apparently its legal here). I call BS. He calls police. Policewoman gets their side of the story (I was on the other side of the room) then comes over and just tells me rudely to get out. I politely argue with her telling her my side of my story.

She gets hysterical and just keeps saying get out. After a minute I listen to her and leave, then she says stop, obviously fvcking with me

Knocks me to the ground from behind. I didn't know what happened I unconciously tried to get up. She pulls my hair throws me to the ground again a couple times on the concrete then handcuffs me. Takes me home in car with my car still in the lot. I say this is illegal. She says what you gonna say? A couple of girls beat you up? I say first of all I'm not gonna hit a woman second of all not a police officer.

What did you say as you turned to leave?

I'll bet anything you mumbled some derogatory crap under your breath as you turned to leave. You mumbled your crap, the officer called to you to stop, and you kept on walking, more than likely still mumbling crap under your breath.

I don't care what the rest of you in the thread say, but I'm going to go kick my heels up, give some little children some candy and sing a little diddy in celebration of this moron getting pwned...or rather, getting the crap beat out of him, like I've wanted to do for so long.

Dude, you have a screwed up sense of reality.
Sounds like the cop freaked out for some reason, as she was hysterical the moment she came over to him.

What a bunch of politically rascist bastards live in ATOT. Especially BigJ.

You take the OPs post about an emotionally charged incident at face value? You have a screwed up sense of reality.

Oh, and you lose about a billion points for using the word "racist", and a billion more for using it completely out of context.

Only a very small majority of cops are fvcked up and THINK they are beyond the law, not all of them so please stop your stupid generalizing! And shut up man, you already said it was your friends coke but now the cops planted it? Do you realize everyone that gets charged or is in jail or prison SWEARS up and down that they are innocent and they didnt kill that person or the cops planted the drugs? Or the cops planted the meth lab in their basement? The cops killed and raped the little girl, it wasnt them right?? Get over it dude, your guilty as charged. DEAL WITH IT!

Did you ever go back to court in the other state? Or do you still think they will forget about it and drop the charges since you never showed up for court? are you still on the run with a warrant for your ass? You should make a new user name since your not in the navy and never will be with that felony.
