Guglielmi said the man had been arrested on charges such as burglary several times before, and had been released Saturday from a Baltimore County jail.

Good to see that the correctional process rehabilitation lasted a whopping 3 days.

Pretty sucky to die (and in that manner) stealing playstations, but I really feel no remorse for the guy. The med student did a favor to the general public.

Clearly, swords must be banned, and this student needs to go to jail for manslaughter at the very least.

Back in the 16th century we armed the militia. If we did that today we will have tanks, fighter jets 5x the speed of sound, stealth helicopters, and a bunch of really pissed off and confused nerds with samurai swords.

I once got so drunk that i went into the neighbours house and not knowing were to go i laid down on his sofa.

Fortunatnly people in the UK aren't so fucking scared they need to attack people without even knowning who they are.

The US is becoming a cesspool of morons who will do anything for safety.

I am glad i don't have my children in the US, who knows who'd shoot them if they approached an ATM with their hands in their pockets.

Marion Morrison would agree with me.

yeah, that was pretty much the intention of the second, to be able to withstand an army of the government with state of the art (at the time) weapons.

Today, it's just so people can feel safe when they are out jogging... with extra magazines if, just in case a whole bunch of Jackie chans with guns would jump them.

I am glad i don't live in a hellhole where i need a gun readily available.

Or maybe it's just to feel gangsta, you know, tough boys with guns and extra mags is soooooooo cool.

I'm sorry but the land of the brave have become the land of the fearful and paranoid.

Of course in the UK if someone breaks in to your house and actually threatens your life you can only offer them tea and biscuits. Doing anything other than that is likely to get YOU arrested and thrown in jail.

I'll stick to chopping off the intruder's hand with a sword thank you.

/intelligence fail

Having a gun doesnt make you want to shoot every person that comes to your house without asking them who they are or what they are doing. Get an effin clue.

Will do anything for safety? This was not a case of somebody running around with a sword cutting down people. It is a clear cut case of self defense. The student even asked the guy to leave and then was "accosted" according to the article so I'm assuming the intruder attacked him.

If you "got so drunk" and entered the wrong house, you deserved to at the very least get your ass kicked for being stupid. Drunkenness is not an excuse. Did you even comprehend the article? Do you know the meaning of self defense? Maybe its asking too much from a Brit to understand...after all your own govt disarmed the entire population and made gun ownership illegal.

Your fault you got drunk. If someone killed you, it's still your fault, and absolutely in his/her right to. YOU screwed up, you made the choice to get drunk and you must accept all consequences of it. Shame that the UK allows irresponsible people to continue to act in such a manner.

Plus if you heard someone breaking into your house and you had a katana on hand, you'd take it with you to investigate. And if the intruder LUNGED at you you'd sure as hell use the sword.

Did you even read the article? The kid confronted the guy and the guy accosted (translation: began to attack) him. If he was visibly drunk and not trying to steal stuff, I don't think the kid would have used the sword.

Reasonable people are reasonable.

That sums up the British public's attitude at this point, unfortunately. Sure the Conservatives might win, but they'll fuck everything up, government will grow bigger, more rights will be infringed, but the British public is resigned.

I am an american who has never felt the need or particularly had the desire to own a gun, I've only handled them a few times, and only been shooting once, at a range. That said, I have no problem with the right to own guns, I have never felt threatened by the right to own guns, nor do I think that gun owners are a dangerous breed.

Oh, and if a thug wants a gun, a thug will have a gun, no matter what the laws are.
