Wow. What a bunch of idiots. A cop gets stabbed and all you can think about is your right to go watch a movie. Pretend for just a moment that you are a decent fucking human being and you want to help them. I know it's cool to hate the police but being a tough guy in a situation where someone got hurt is pretty stupid and pointless. Bunch of fucking morons.
A: One got shot too
B: There was absolutely nothing I could do to help
C: I wasn't being a tough guy, I hung around even though most people are saying I wasn't legally required to
D: You are so blindingly stupid it's kind of incredible.
Seriously, does Officer Friendly's wang actually taste good, or do you just enjoy the thought of taking a shot in the mouth from a police officer?
The rest of us have lives you know. If I came back for lunch during the day to grab a few things when this happened, then that would suck. Back in the summer I worked on plenty of design of experiments, where we needed appointments to run our validation studies. How would I feel if suddenly I got locked in my own home? What about people who have kids? Geez.
Being a good citizen is one thing, but when it gets in the way of my life, we all should have the right to choose our lives first. Ex: Voting. I don't vote on the day of. The last time people did that in 2004, my friends were in line at the polling station for 2 hours and didnt even get a chance to cast a vote because they just HAD to get going. That's why we have absentee ballots.
i wonder if Agentbolt even asked to leave. hey, did you tell them you had something to do, and wanted to leave?
Of course I asked to leave. I'm not retarded, I had stuff to do and when I heard what was going on, my first thought was "Shit, I better not get stuck here". I asked if I could go, because I had things to do, and was told "No, you need to stay here until we're finished investigating the crime scene". Exact words.
3 hours later I found a different cop and asked again if I could leave, as I had things to do, and was told "Absolutely not. Stay in your house until we're done here."
The chicks who were going to that concert put up a WAY stronger fight than I did. I didn't hear the conversation, so I'm only speaking from her side of things, but she pulled the "I have rights and you can't force me to stay here" card, and the officer got very angry and said (according to her) "not when your house happens to be a crime scene you don't". Who knows if he really said that, but this chick was PISSED that she'd blown a hundred bucks on a concert she wasn't able to go to so I know she did everything short of ramming the police barricade to get out of there.
As for everyone saying I should have stayed "to help", I'm going to write this in bold capital letters:
I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING WHATSOEVER I heard gunshots and that was it. Clearly the police ended up not needing my help considering that a detective never even came to fucking talk to me. I stuck around because I'm a giant wuss and when a cop said "You're not going anywhere" I complied like a little bitch. I'm not particularly proud of it, but I don't know the laws/rules regarding being part of a crime scene or when they're legally allowed to detain me, and getting a lawyer or something involved seemed rather silly considering I wasn't being forced to miss work or anything earth-shatteringly important. Besides, it would have been a pointless gesture, there's two entrances to my town house complex, and both of them were physically blocked off with police cruisers. This wasn't a "stay because we said so" situation, they literally physically sealed us in.
