Polk Audio R50 Cherry Finish

These speakers are *IN-STORE* for $69.99 + tax (YMMV).

I picked up on 2 of these online late november when they were on-sale. Phenominal sounding speaker. Was reading my local fry's ad last night when I saw that they are on-sale in-store also for $69.99. You'll be saving quite a bit over the on-line price by not having to pay in the upwards of $50 for shipping if you can pick them up in-store.

P.S. Two of these in-carton will fit in the back of a Jeep Wrangler Soft-Top with some creative shuffling.

what exactly is a cherry finish (is it dark red shiny finish?)
are there any black ones?

I've been waitin for these to go on sale for 59.99 ... 69.99 at the stores sound fine to me .. it'll beat my onkyo stock speakers (2x 4.25 mids and 1" tweater) plus i don't need a freakin speaker stand ...

I do hear that these need high output receivers to handle the high or the tweaters blow ...

and i already have an ok subwoofer to go with the lack of bass.

The cherry finish looks just like the below image (but with a black grille cloth cover on the front, bass port is exposed which shows cherry on black). I now have 4 R50's as my front and rear speakers, with a matching Polk CSi3 center channel. The sound is *amazing* for the money.

Thanks for the image. It looks bigger than i thought. I might have to move my book shelf somewhere ... maybe the garage .. haha
I hope the instore has black cuz my furniture are black.

does the csi3 ever go on sale? If it does i'll wait for it. If not i'll jump on the csi25 for 69.99

Any recommendation on a budget receiver to go with these? I was looking to start up a 5.1 system and use these as fronts, since they should be ok for music as well. I used to be up to speed on these things, would an Onkyo 5-series still be a good buy?

darn ... they aren't available at industry or burbank is socal for 69.99 ... just regular price of 199.99
I was planning on hooking them up to my onkyo (100w /ch 5.1) i think it would have been fine. You could always upgrade later.

I *believe* they only have them in cherry. My TV is black and I have some other small black items, but I have woodgrain furniture so the cherry finish sort of matches.

The Csi3 speaker is also great. You can get the black ones cheap on e-bay, the cherry finish ones seem to not be as easy to come by cheaply. I ordered mine from a site called garrett smart home electronics. They're slow, non-responsive, but they do get the orders fulfilled. I picked it up for $150 + $10 shipping. I have not been able to find the Csi3's on sale anywhere (except the beforementioned site)

by the way, the Csi3 is a large center channel. It's a solid 2 feet long by 9 inches deep!
