Anyone can confirm this...the nature test in 3Dmark2001 SE, does it use Direct3D? Maybe that's the problem why my nature score is so low...

3dmark is entirely Direct3D

SupermanCK, RE: your PM to me, you are correct. The reason people get 10 point score variation in 3DMark is because they turn the quality down. If I change Mipmap Detail Level from my normal "best image quality" to "best performance" in the D3D control panel, I gain the mystical 10 points in Nature score that others get. This is why benches dont mean much. There are always ways to "adjust" scores. This one seems to only affect the Nature score. Others are ~ the same.

3dmark is a "fake" benchmark.

even 3dmark2k and 2k1 are completely different from each other. a tweak that works for one of them doesnt mean it will work for the other.

3dmark2k1 is very very buggy. one time it thought i was running @ only 2600mhz and it gave me a score of 16000! lol - on my gf3!

for real gaming benchmarks - use a real game

That's true thugsrook, 3dmark2k1 is buggy indeed
I had run the test with vsync on and it gives me the same score as running it off and in games it does show dramatic slow downs
so running real games is the only way to go...I guess benchie of real games like quake3 bench or serious sam would be good...just i hope they would i implement some kind of scoring system so it's easier for us to compare them

1) fire up 3dm2k1
2) rename "my benchmark" to "Holy Cow!"
3) set your screen size etc.
4) hit game demo and shoot down some cows

Well, I finally got my rig going. I needed 1.58V (+10% cpu voltage on abit bg7r-2 w/ enermax 430W) to get 2.4ghz. I haven't done anything with the ram yet, but it seems like I should be able to get it higher, it's corsair xms 3000 cas2. I'm currently running at 1:1 cpu to memory. When I set it to 3:4, the system typically crashes. I'm thinking of upping the memory voltage, but should I even need to? My sandra memory benches are rather low, only 2400... Does anyone know of stability with ntfs versus fat 32 for xp pro? I disabled the usb earlier, but I'm going to go and try re-enabling that. Be back soon. Btw, here's the sandra stats for those interested

Yep, there it is.

Although, I've toned my OC down since my AS3's still not to it's suggested "rest in" time or whatever.
I guess it's supposed to take 3 days for the temps to drop with the AS3. Since I just put it in today (which was the hottest day of the year, here) and my air conditioner doesn't work well, I dropped it to 133fsb.

When AS3's setting in, it's perhaps the craziest thing I've experienced. My temps have gone like this (idle): 29c to 40c to 50c to 55c back to 40c to 39c to 50c.

I was freaking out until I read the article on the AS3.

I have a question for all 1.6A o/cers
I have been having cold boot problems ever since I had my FSB at 160...
The problem is whenever I don't have my computer on for a few days...and when I boot it up the first time in a while...my system would not boot...i had to turn it off completely...and it would boot up again...the motherboad gives me long beeps...meaning either the memory is not installed or something else i forgot...but it would cold boot fine if i was using it before like 10-15 minutes...
I don't know if this happened to anyone else...but this is a problem I have been getting ever since i had it up at 160FSB...
I know that it didn't do that a couple of times...weird...but most of the time if just won't boot up the first try...
I know the first time it happened was my roommate just turn off my computer by pressing the power button on the chassis...basically without shutting down windows properly

I think that it's obvious that noone posting 3.0+ is even hitting those speeds... they are just posting that because they think it's funny or something.

i have a 2.0a that ran 2450 at 1.7v (which is only 1.6v in a crappy TH7-II :| ) when i did a 1.7v VMOD it completely quit, so my 2.0 is @ 0.0 right now until i figure out the problem.

I use my XBox more than my PCs

I posted at 175fsb or 2.8ghz at 1.8v bios actual 1.73v and loaded into windows and ran snadra benches....memory was like 2680's sandra cpu 5411/3445

I posted at 180fsb or 2.88ghz at 1.85v bios actual 1.78v and loaded into windows...did not run any benches though....

I've seen a few people post that they've gotten a bit over 2.1 with the stock HS/F, is that the realistic OC limit with stock HS/F, or could you reasonably go much higher? Also, what does Intel use for the stock HS/F and what are the specs?
