Would you rather have a UXGA screen with a native res of 1600x1200 or an SXGA with two or three dead pixels and a res of 1400x1050?

This is for a laptop btw

1400x1050 even if the other one didn't have dead pixels.

1600x1200 makes my eyes bleed on a 15" screen.

Ditto, 1600x1200 is too small on anything less then a 19 inch for me, even on a 19 inch its not ideal either.

Yes but having to focus on small text isnt easy on one's eyes.

1600x1200, for me its a no brainer. Anything less is not enough desktop real estate (1920x1440 or 2048x1536 would be preferred...)

i've never seen any issues with it at all. i personally use 1400 with enlarged fonts, no problems, and have a few friends with 1600, same.

for the person who made this thread, find someone with a laptop that has a 1600 desktop, go to a store or something and ask if they have any. once you see it,you will buy it.

for a 15inch i'd say 1024*768. My friend has a ibm laptop at 1400 and he and i think its way too small.

Then again i'm on a 17inch using 1024 AND enlarged fonts and icons b/c I like it big

But Eug is right, I've noticed over the past few months some Apps are kinda awkward because of the enlarged fonts

bullpucky, its not too small. windows has the ability to set font size.... in display advanced... large fonts. more pixels per inch = finer image

hmm... I dunno. I swapped in the 1600x1200 for the moment. It's not too bad (much better at 120dpi though.. i'm at 90 or 96 or whatever the default is right now... kind of small)

It's kind of a toss up it seems. I'm pretty impartial to which one I use. The 1400x1050 has a couple of dead pixels though; which kind of makes me sway towards the 1600x1200.. I might swap the 1400x1050 in to remind me what it's like again

even with the two or three dead pixels; I like the 1400x1050 better. Also; games will run better at the native res (1400x1050) rather than the 1600x1200 one.. (that was the deciding factor..)

laptop gaming is a joke either way, and 1400 is still way too big for full screen gaming. if your gaming on a laptop you either have to deal with resizing or windowed. either way, dead pixels on the 1600 will be almost unnoticeable unless you look for it everytime.

I'll chose ease of use anytime. I love high res but the screen size should match. 1400 is just right for me.
