Dunno, 3rd on my mothers side and my fathers side goes back to the 1780's as far as we have been able to trace it.

There used to be a good one in the OC called Gustav Anders but I don't know if it's still open. I ate there once years ago for their annual Christmas buffet. Man, that was a tasty meal. Expensive but good! They have all kinds of Akvavit too!

Edit-My great great grandparents on my Mom's side were from Sweden...or was it great grandparents...I can't remember. I'll have to ask my Mom sometime.

I'd say that makes you a first generation American since your parents weren't born here.

Well, part of my ancestery came here 2 gens back, another part was here since the last ice age, the others are somewhere in between. It's not that clean cut for a lot of us. We're just Americans and don't give a rat's ass how long we've been here.

On my mother's side my grandparents were immigrants. My father's side has been in America for 5+ generations.

My grandfather's parents came from Lithuania. My grandmother's parents came from Germany and England I think.
I have no idea where my other grandparent's parents came from, but they were both born here.
