The Anandtech banner loads pretty quick, in about 3 seconds but the main page takes another 15 seconds. I've had problems with loading review articles - frequently receive a page cannot be found error.

Well, considdering the amount of data I download from BB servers, it's a good deal to me.
My fav public FTP server(fragzone.se) is on BBB's backbone.
I download lots and lots of stuff from BBB only DC hubs, when I was about to download Americas Army 2.0 I got ~30 KB/sec from the fastest mirror, so I went to DC, there was like 50 people who had it, and on the first try I got ~900 KB/Sec.

Anyways, that's most definately another discussion, and to make this post somewhat useful, the frontpage is pretty much the same for me as it was earlier(~5-6 secs), at home again.

Took over 20 seconds to load.

The zipzoomfly ads seem to be the problem.

Mozilla Firebird (Build 20040104) :: <10s
IE 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 :: >30s

IE seems to be choking. Freezes on loading the zipzoomfly ad. (XP says Not Responding for a few seconds)

I booted up my Athlon with Suse 9.0 and tried to load the page in Mozilla, Opera and Konqueror. Took 4 seconds in Opera and 6 in Mozilla and 5 in Konqueror. It's always fastest in Opera and slowest in Mozilla. In windows XP with IE6 SP1 it's still 5-6 seconds.

Once again, my browser completely hung on the front page with the zipzoomfly ad. I had to ctrl-alt-del it and come back to the forums directly.

I just reformatted my hard drive (for another reason) and now the front page takes about 15 seconds to load.

Another 30 second load , stalling on the zipzoomfly banner. From DSL in the Silicon Valley. CA

For the first time in over 4 years AT is no longer my homepage. It just hangs too often

I have rather revolutionary idea... Instead of semi-looking into the issue and not coming up with any answers for several weeks now, how about just dumping the zipzoomfly ad's that are causing problems for dso many ?

I.e west coast, east coast. State/province if possible. Just an FYI, I'm working on a new CSS layout for the main site which will increase rendering time significantly.

Well I said 20+ as the front page is locking up IE for me. Started last night. I am on Road Runner Cable in NC

It was awful when I tried to visit from work today... a good 15, 20 seconds. That was using IE6, and the lightning fast university network.

The page is stalling my browser again yesterday and today. IE is showing it stalling while loading several ad banners from Http//:www.zipzoomfly.com. whats up with this anyway? It has been doing it for a few weeks now. Sometimes it starts loading the page normally in 2-3 secs for a couple of days then it goes back to the stalling thing again taking up to 20secs to finish loading. The annoying part is the way it freezes the browser so that you can't do anything until it is finished. Can't scroll, click a link, or even sometimes close the browser. Never seen a slow loading page that completely freezes the browser like that.
