I just started using rounded cables lately (Coolermaster ones an 18" and a 24" one). It just made it easier to connect my drives using the board that I have, the Soltek SL-75DRV4.
I used to just be able to use 1 cdrom and was using 1 hd, but now I am using both opticals and 2 hds and it just is easier. If I could send a pic I would, it's pretty crazy in there cause of where the AGP slot is.
I have one cable going over the card and one going around it, but everything works

No tips here; just a comment that I'd love to have one of those cases also, since they're so nice compared the cheap cases that I have now. I just can't bring myself to spend $130 on a case like that (well, I guess a PSU is included, so that helps a bit).

Jaeger66's case
An Antec PLUS1080AMG

You do the comparison yourself. They look very similar (the same?) to me.

Well it's a 1030 from a few years ago. Same insides and outsides though, just no window and no dust filter. The PSU is an Antec 300SL, which powers the P4 2.4 just fine. It's a pretty standard case, but I'd buy another one in a second. The only quirk is that it's actually more shallow front to back than most cases, so I'd install as much stuff onto the board as possible before mounting it. There's no slide out mobo tray.

Yeah, mine was a "I just got a credit limit increase so let's go to Fry's" impulse purchase. But a good case will last through many upgrades, so it makes sense to put money into one you like IMO.

And the Antec will last forever. It's a man's case, one big hunk of cold-rolled steel. None of this candy-ass aluminum junk.

Do you really lose that much performance in using a Rounded IDE cable?

Is there anything dodgy about them?

As far as I was aware, i thought they were identical to a normal flat ribbon cable, just round?

You do make me want to buy one. Of course, it won't increase my system's performance (except perhaps making it run a bit cooler), so it won't feed my Distributed Computing addiction, but then again it would let me take the current "candy-ass aluminum junk" case that houses my main system and set up a third computer with spare parts that I've got lying around.
