I just use whatever ones I come across. Got some flat ones with my tiger mp, have some flat ones leftover from older stuff, got one rounded one that a guy threw in with a mobo I bought in the fs/ft forum, honestly the only thing I care about is price. If i see one for cheaper, that's what I get. Makes no difference to me, they all work the same

I made my own flat counting out 5 ribs then cut, 5 ribs then, then I wirewrapped all the ribs together. I tried the round ones but didn't like the stiff feel when you have 2 hard drives together.

I went back to my homemade ones for floppy and hard drives.

My case has a clear side panel, so I use rounded cables for mostly asthetic reasons. The do slow down your hard drive vs. flat cables, but in my testing, the difference was only around 2%.

Did you cut the ribbon cables to length? I thought there were limits to how short or long you could make them.

I just use flat. Cost considerations.

Nope, they're just folded and laid flat along the bottom of the case. I use little sticky plastic clips to secure them.

Heh, no it isn't. Those guys hire oragami experts to lay out the cables. I'm a one person operation.

I use rounded ones from CrazyPC for my CD-RW and DVD-ROM drives. I use a ribbon cable for the hard drive, since I don't trust the round ones for that. Hard to believe they actually meet ATA-133 specs though I do believe they're good enough for ATA-33 which is all the optical drives need.

Me too. :Q And I have wires criss-crossing due to fans in the exhaust of the case and the drives at the bottom front. I need to do something about that.

Oh and my cables are round.

I just have one fan in the front of the drives. I don't OC, and my system never crashes so I just figure an extra fan is extra noise.

Yeah they're a pain, some people tuck them around behind the PSU but so far the only way I've found to do that is with duct tape. I'd like something a bit more elegant though. Maybe a zip tie, but I've never seen one long enough.
