As a general rule, I do not consider upgrading unless I can double my cpu performance, and I don't see Conroe doing that for me anytime soon as jury is still out on Conroe performance. Some of the results I'm seeing are less than exciting when compared to dual core AMDs such as my oc'd Opty 165. Also, the lack of native 64-bit support is of concern. Not a big deal right now, but in a year or two's time it could be.
EM64T is the same thing as AMD's 64bits..if you want a true full 64bit CPU get an Itanium but you won't be able to do much with it..
