I voted for Nirvana because Nevermind changed the musical landscape so drastically. It was a movement driven by passion, and it put the nail in the coffin of 80's glam rock. I think it is the most *important* album of the last 15 years for sure. I'm not going to knock the Beatles, Zep, Floyd, or Hendrix, but I didn't live through those movements, so they don't have as big of an emotional impact.

Excellent points. This echoes my sentiments exactly.

I am 27 and I voted for Abbey Road. The Beatles are the greatest band ever. Go give them a listen.

Holy crap, that is a good album. When it came out I predicted it would be the Nevermind of the 21st century; i.e. usher in a new era in music. Quite a predictor I am.

It came out in 1997, although I think it was in '98 that I heard it for the first time. Pretty much guitar rock; I've heard it referred to as "post-rock." Mostly instrumental, and a lot like My Bloody Valentine, if you know them.

I'll have to look it up next time I'm CD shopping.

How the hell did Radiohead get 3 albums on here? Alanis? Oasis? Coldplay? Eminiem? This is awful.

I agree, all albums should be at least 10 years old before they're even considered.

Where's the results option? I don't like any of them...you should find a better list, one that isn't on a tripod site.

this is a list of lists. it supposedly takes into account many of the rolling stone lists as well as others.

It also uses a flawed methodology to boost rankings of new albums.

No, I do. At least after 1970 or so. Syd Barrett was the only interesting part of the band.

Sony Records

In the U.S., AC/DC has earned the 5th highest ranking in terms of album certifications, according to the RIAA. The band's 1980 release, Back In Black, has sold an impressive 41 million copies worldwide, making it the 6th highest-selling album in history. Classic AC/DC releases include High Voltage (1976); Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (1976); Let There Be Rock (1977); Powerage (1978); If You Want Blood, You've Got It (Live) (1978); Highway to Hell (1979); Back In Black (1980); For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) (1981); Flick of the Switch (1983); '74 Jailbreak (1984); Fly on the Wall (1985); Who Made Who (soundtrack from the film Maximum Overdrive) (1986); Blow Up Your Video (1988); The Razor's Edge (1990); AC/DC Live {single and two-disc versions} (1992); Bonfire (boxset) (1997).

This doesn't rank by sales. And I wouldn't put AC/DC on there anyway. Maybe if they didn't release 20 albums that are indistinguishable from one another.

What makes your musical taste superior to anyone elses?

Albums that were popular because they had a cute singer don't count. Matchbox 20 is the epitome of bland, boring, non-offensive, packaged-for-MTV tripe. And I mean seriously, who voted for Oasis? Despite their claims to the contrary(I don't recall if the one said it, or the other one), I am sure it can be proven with math and physics that the Beatles were, in fact, better.
