yea you have a point piasabird. My rule of thumb was always that... a heavier power supply may the better. Just to think how big the input/output caps are... man....

Hav a PC&C in this computer and have a Powerstream 520 sitting in my closed for my next build. Yes I paid out the ass for the PC&C and the OCZ wasn't cheap either. But you what...If a problem comes up I feel confident that my power source is not causing it...for me it was worth the extra money...

I'd say Pc Power and Cooling is the best, but I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a power supply.

I'd rather get an Antec, Seasonic, or Enermax and save some money.

I was heading for a Seasonic S12-500 until I read about several people having serious issues with theirs. Quality control issues, certain lines not giving proper voltage. Then I realized I could get a nice Antec TruePower II 480w for about half the price and will probably go with that instead.

I wish one of the review sites would do a component level review. Then we'll know what the heck is inside Enermax, Antec, Seasonic and Fortron.

Based on personal use: Hiper

I have been using them for nearly 3 years without any issues at all. The Hiper Type-R 580W Modular PSU contrary to THG testing is within all acceptable tolerances, better in most tests I put it through than the OCZ Modstream 450W in the other machine. The OCZ is a tiny bit quieter though.

We use Fortron PSU's in the workstations at work and they do a stellar job.

Why is Raidmax even on the list.... If you buy one, don't plan on overclocking... you'll be sorry later... trust me.

I love how everyone picks the most expensive psu. Just cause is it the "best" to some people. I kinda wish people would vote on what they have had...

voting what you have is inaccurate. testing with benchmarks and comparing them to others shows that pcp&c, is in fact, the top of the line.

Can you post links to threads where people are mentioning this? I've not seen anything of the sort on here or elsewhere, and I definitely don't have any issues with my s12-500. Thanks

Mine works like a champ. Silent and all the rails are rock solid.

i've only used 2 brands of power supply in my pc. 1st was a enermax that lasted me about 5 years and i replaced it with a thermaltake. so i really don't have much to go on. the thermaltake one seems very well built and connections are tight.

Modular PSUs are disasters waiting to happen. PC P&C does not build such a travesty and never will.

There's a little article on PC Power and Cooling's website about how modular PSU's suck. I think it says that they provide less power or something, and that the connectors break off very easily. Anyways, in terms of quality, PC P&C owns all. Fortron/Sparkle PSu's are better quality than Antecs and usually cost about the same, so I don't know why people are recommending Antec... Seasonics are silent and efficient, but they're kinda pricey, although its power saving on the electric bill will probably pay for itself. Enermax makes some quality models at a pretty good price too. So generally, I would recommend Fortron/Sparkle, Seasonic, and Enermax for the average user.

EDIT: Oh btw, in your poll, you have Sparkle and Fortron, but they're made by the same manufacturer (FSP Group).

Military equipment actually uses modular design, it is not flawed. Mind you they're not using ho-hum cheap in the pants nylon "molex" connectors either!

For PC's Zippy is pretty damn nice.

Zippy, by far. Its as stable as PC&C, but doesn't cost nearly as much. They don't sell that dual rail crap either.
