I've driven a 330Ci and a 98 M3, a 2001 A6, a 2000 A4, and a 2002 A4. I bought the 2002 A4. BMW has more pep, but I like the Audi's interior and general scarcity compared to the much over bought BMW. I honestly think it is silly to buy a 3 series that is less than the 328, and the 328 is pushing it. I like the 1.8t because you can chip it or change out the turbos. The 325, 318, etc, are simply barrel-scrapers that people buy for the "image." To me that shows, and I avoid any human that drives said car. You know instantly how fake they are.

Anyone think its about time they updated those a bit? The engine is a bit on the laggy side. I liked the Z4 better.

Although, I hate the new 5 series!!!
If you wish to make a comment towards BMW on its new designs though, please send here. Im certainly going to send one about the 5. Though, I love the Z4 and 7 series...... Both looked much better in person but the 5 is aweful.

own a 325xi and my brother owns a m5...driven a fair amount of high end cars and bimmers rule..never touched something so amazing..that it makes you an extension of the road...sticks like glue and flys at the touch of the pedal...the xi is amazing in snow..very impressed...

the new bimmer shapes are not as agressive and a bit rigid because this chris bangle guy is retarded...
still nothing touches a bimmer in the price range.....audi;s get my respect but why pay more for a volkswagen in a suit....gimme a 1.8t gti over the 1.8t a4..still..much respect for the s4 ..very very nice car..

Funny....I say the same thing about people buying for Image if they have the 330, 540 or 760. Gotta show you can have the bigger engine. Just like the V12 sticker suckers getting the Mercedes SL's.

i think that that assumption that people buying 3;ers under the 2.8l is only for image is rediculous..in the same way that you can mod up anyother car..bimmers are capable of being tuned very nicely....

as for reliability...having maintained the cars owned by my entire family..the bimmers are surpirsingly the most reliable..sure its expensive to fix em when they break down..but having replaced nothing more than plugs wires...water pump..and other essentials on an 89 bimmer...i must say that the car is amazing...and u know what..it still purrs when it needs to...and frys rice all the time...

Hmm... I think I have to disagree here. What enjoyment does a 325 or 318 offer for that money? A lot less than the 330 does. In my eyes it is all about cost to enjoyment ratio. I know that the increase in price on a 330 is worth it compared to the price on a 325 or 318. Now, you may wonder why I got the 1.8t, but it is because of the much better modding you can do over the 3.0(which you can supercharge) and the better GM.

I say it, because that is normally what I see. I didn't buy Audi because of the name, but bought it because I loved my friends when I drove his. I've driven BMW's too, and I simply didn't like it as much. Audi is a a much less known name and status symbol, and you certainly don't see to many "yuppies" driving them for the image. Now, I will make an exception to someone who drives a BMW because the way it performs, and has older models that it maintains. That shows you are an enthusiast, so you certainly aren't buying for image. I didn't mean to offend you, I was just saying what I notice on a regular basis.

BMW is not all about power, its one of the best handling cars out there... also its a RWD to boot..
if the 1.8t is not quattro, it will be FWD, which is bleh..
The quatro is nice in snowy climate, but I live in sunny socal.. so quatro is not a big deal (also it sucks gas more compared to non quattro)

I looked at audi before getting my 330ci, the 1.8t was seriously underpowered (albeit much cheaper). The 3.0 quatro is nice (but still slower compared to the 330ci) but turns out to be expensive with all the options compared to the 330ci. If I drop the quatro I will get FWD, which I dont want. (If I want a FWD Id rather get an acura tl)
IMO the interior of the 3 series is much nicer compared to the audi, and the built quality is also different. Audi's built IMO is more of like a japanese car build, it does not have the european feel to it. The 3 series on the other hand is built very nicely (but also has some minor problems such as speaker rattling, etc, which is the norm in 3 series).

Also can I buy a sti or lancer evo that will blow my 330ci in terms of speed and handling? of course, but the bmw is in a different class than the lancer or subaru. What I wanted was luxury combined with performance and handling, and the 3 series provided the best combination of them. If I wanted more luxury as opposed to performance, I wouldve gotten a mercedez. but IMO mercedez are seriously overpriced and underpowered... and its more of an older person's car

BMW. Though Audi makes good cars, I think the BMW's are the best in the world. Great handling, power and reliability. Heck they even cut part costs by 40% or so, this year.

I have to seriously disagree about the interior, but we are arguing about opinion and preference and not fact. I agree that you might not have a need for Quattro, but we get a great deal of bad weather down here. Secondly, I think the 1.8t chipped has plenty of power, and I say that coming from a built mustang with a SHM engine and a large shot of nitrous.

yea the interior thing is a matter of opinion, and I dont need quattro in sunny socal!! If I live in a snowy climate I would get the a4 quattro in a heartbeat (or get the xi for the 3 series).
1.8t chipped does have a lot of power, but keep in mind that you potentially destroy the warranty of the car, which I dont want to do. Also if you chip the car you will waste more gas, create unprepared tear on the car, etc etc...
Also there is a thing that I dont like about turbo cars, which is turbo lag... the power is not available at all powerband, you have to wait until the engine revs to a certain point (I dont know what point, but I think its quite high, maybe 5k rpms??) then you will get the power.
The power is not available at lower rpms, which is different from a NA engine.
Also BMW's inline 6 engine is legendary, it runs so smooth and the power is always available on tap, I can just mash the throttle and the engine will respond ASAP, this is another factor why I chose the bimmer... I am bored of regular V6 on other cars....

Every dealer I've talked to has zero problem with an APR chip. It is unreadable by their diagnostics anyway and some actually sell it.

A lot more torque than the 330Xi, but a little bit less HP. No idea about at what RPM it peaks at, but I assume the powerband would change upward across the board just like any other mod does.

Plus the A4 Quattro weighs a little bit less than the Xi.

hmm nice gains.. I wonder what powerband is that...
hey did u change ur handle??? U r a lifer, but I dont know u...
yes I would choose a4 quattro over the xi... the xi sits too high, and BMW is not well known for its 4wd
but again I dont need 4wd

hey bro...this is a friendly convo...dont sweat it..im not offended....

its just that i have a passion for bimmers and everythign i know about them is experience....which is why i argue it..
someone mentioned the the legendary I-6 of the bimmers and he is right....hp dosent seem to be thaaat big an issue in cars when youre comparing 15-20 because there are other factors....

i mean ive done my fair share of highway "ill show you" so at some point, the guy in my rearview mirror whose driving a stang will probably realize that cornering is just as important...

the handling is incredible and honsetly..for all those who wanna know what it feels like...dress up a lil and hit up your nearest dealership....i love my 325

and sure there were other cars i considered...including the a4..but the handling of a bimmer and the sports package interior is untouchable.....subtle but amazing...

well not that it means much rite now...my baby has 4k miles on her and shese buried in the school parking lot...

damn snow..

I voted Audi, because low end BMW's are overpriced for what you get, and I can't afford a high end BMW.

Besides, I own an A4, so I already "voted" with my checkbook
