I have been wondering how do most people shop when it comes to computers. I've found that some of the best prices to be had are from small local computer stores. I'm talking about your local ma and pa corner comp shop not a local chain. Usually the best deals in town are from these guys. The only down side to these stores is that 99% of the time you are getting an OEM part unless you specifically ask for retail and the warrenty is usually something like 30 days. However as I build my own systems now this works out good for me, once a part is up and running for a few days you probably won't need anything in the way of warenty anyway, just remember to stress test your comp in the first few weeks. The first time I walked out of one of these stores holding a hard drive/cpu or ram stick in a little antistatic bag I was a bit warry but I've had very few problems. One of the big advantages is that you know exactly where the store is, no need to deal with annoying online support systems and long distance calls.
