Which creation story is that? The one that has light before the sun and stars were created and where birds were created before land (did they just fly about munching on fellow birds and flapping their wings continuously?)

uh... that's not the genesis i'm looking at...

water, land, vegitation, fish and birds, land animals, people.... how does that differ from evolution?

Then you're looking at a highly revised version. Your Bible *should* contain two Genesis accounts of the creation (btw, there are also two versions of the flood tale). Both of which offer up nothing that other creation stories from centuries prior or from other civilizations didn't offer up, themselves.

And, none of that describes evolution. It just describes how they think life was put on earth (by some big-handed almighty being.) Using the Bible to explain questions of a scientific nature is an abuse of the Bible. The formation of the earth isn't evolution. The formation of the first plants or the first animals isn't evolution. You should brush up on what evolution (and the Theory of Evolution) comprises.

new world translation... translated from some of the most highly regarded versions of the bible today. KJV is laughable, at best.

i tread lightly with the word evolution. the bible isn't an attempt to explain how life got here, but why. 1 chapter of one book of a 66 book compilation is obviously just a "recap thus far" so to speak.

It doesnt take a scientist or for that matter, a god to realize that you need land and water to have vegetation, and lower animals to feed the higher animals.

Not aware of that version. I use the NRSV.

The Bible is not an attempt to explain why life is here. The Bible was written to express the need for man to fulfill a commitment to "God".

whenever i see one of these discussions now, i just post this

http://www.geocities.com/lflank/

doesnt look like a very reputable source but the guy knows what he is talking about, at least in what i have read. it covers basically every angle you could attack evolution from and refutes it. of course, if you dont believe in science most of it wont make sense to you, but then if it weren't for science, we wouldnt be talking right now.

On the other hand, maybe it's about time the "creationists" provide evidence supporting their belief

Creationists' demand for fossils that represent "missing links" reveals a deep misunderstanding of science
They don't need evidence. All they have to do is say "The Bible tells me so" and that's the end of their "debate". Creationists, much like the Propagandist's administration, are coated with super-Teflon that gives them some sort of free pass to not use reason.

Cur, you suck, stop posting. There was an active thread that was about the same topic, but you were too pussy to argue in it.

Take your single testicle and go show your mommy. We don't want to see your infertile spooge on this forum.

And this place accepts the likes of Rip and Dave. How does that make you feel, you illiterate, ignorant piece of faeces?

Either get an education, get some counselling, or kill yourself.

Any of the above may make you worth the time to think about your existence.

As it stands now, the only reason you're worth my time is that you've annoyed me, the way you spend time to swat a mosquito..

And I'm unemployed. I have more time than most on this forum.

Buzz, Buzz, Buzz.

Statistical impossibility is defined as having a probability of ZERO. Not 1 x 10^ -34, that is still a possibility. Only a chance of ZERO is a statistical impossibility.

And because of quantum mechanics, everything has a finite possibility of occuring.

Well, OMAR...

What you say is true but really has no relevance to the discussion since these probabilities, when weighed against the evolutionary timescale that can be proven through fossel records, are what confirm the impossibilities. Intelligent Design has much more to do with math and science than the make believe world of classical evolution...

(CBS) Americans do not believe that humans evolved, and the vast majority says that even if they evolved, God guided the process. Just 13 percent say that God was not involved. But most would not substitute the teaching of creationism for the teaching of evolution in public schools.

Support for evolution is more heavily concentrated among those with more education and among those who attend religious services rarely or not at all.

There are also differences between voters who supported Kerry and those who supported Bush: 47 percent of John Kerry?s voters think God created humans as they are now, compared with 67 percent of Bush voters.
More proof that ignorance is bliss.

I weep for this nation.

the problem with intelligent design is that it does not advance our knowledge base at all and is effectively a dead-end path

Why? Because I have a brain and like to use it?

no because you try to use it and come up with these dumbass comments

"ignorance is bliss"? why because someone has the brain power to comprehend that there is the possibility of a higher power?

but your political leanings dont allow your great mind from going THAT far!
That'd be a conservative thought!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo

Its sad that these days the liberals have turned into mindless WYSIWYG morons

some things, you just cant understand conjur. one of those many things is God and the creation of the universe.

Just because you dont get it, doesnt mean you are right and they are "ignorant". You are JUST as ignorant as a Christian like myself.

You dont have any more proof than I do that God exists or doesnt exist.
The difference between us is, I have faith that our creator loves and has purpose for us.

It must be a sad, sad existence to have nothing to live for ultimately. I give my life to the Lord and he guides me.

Whatever happens to you, hope God has mercy on your soul.

People havent been on that level of intelligence since caveman days. That is, not having any mental capacity to imagine they might be a part of a bigger picture.

Yes, ignorance is bliss. Not knowing removes one from the truth and one enters a false sense of contentment...bliss.

And, btw, who says I'm a liberal? I love it when people start throwing around labels based upon reading one quote. Beautiful. BTW, I don't bet on Pascal's Wager and there is no God, Goddess, gods, titans, fairies, leprechauns, Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc.

And, btw, I do think we're part of a bigger picture but I just don't see a god in it.
