Did You Read Tom's Hardware Guide Before Anandtech?
I was just visiting his page to double check that I was doing the B21 trick correctly on a Slot1.
I hardly go there anymore.

Definately, it's a great resource, but Anandtech is even better in many aspects.

I still check out their site most every day. That one, along with probably a dozen other enthusiast sites.

i go there sometimes for reviews that anandtech doesn't have, but his writing, i think, is a bit biased and his site is very disorganized.....messy, i dunno, i just like anandtech better.

Started off there just after Tom's got slammed by Intel for his less than flattering review of the original Klamath processor. Then came through to AT after Tom pointed out an article over here comparing the Pentium MMX core with something else.

I don't go to THG anymore. The reviews are too long; it's difficult to find things.

Tom started it and was kind enough to link Anands sight when Anand was starting out.
If you ask Anand I'm sure he'll agree that even he got many of his Ideas from Toms sight.
I go to Toms sight also, as he was the pioneer in oc/ing when it all started.
I wish people would stop bashing him.
Anand has stated his support for Tom several times.
Alot of sights spun off from his Ideas and that has made me respect him, he has had his ups and downs with Anand but the matters were resolved.
Tom was the first to report the oc/ing remedies for the original Athlon.
He has made so contributions to the oc/ing crowd out there.
So let bye gones be bye gones.

when i started reading tom's there was no anandtech. i probably followed tom's link way back in the day (june 1997 or something) to get here. and i've been stuck ever since.

i voted "who's tom?" for the hell of it =), and i dont go there anymore, his site is too ugly and kinda of disorganized compared to anand's very well designed site, not to mention tom talks way way too much in his articles and his writing is kinda too opinionated or biased.... i dont know he's just weird .

But yeah, I completely agree that TomsHardware's layout is in desperate need of a layout. Especially when trying to find older articles. The search function is practically useless.

Tom's site is good. He gets quite a bit of info that other sites don't. You just have to take it with a grain of salt

I've gone from FiringSquad to Tom's/Sharky/AnandTech/FiringSquad all at once, to AnandTech all the time, and FiringSquad the odd time.

Tom's not biased. that's stupid. Tom is pissed that he pointed out an Intel CPU was not stable, and Intel tried a stonewall on him. Tom was right and it caused a big fuss in the industry. his integrity is also affronted by an Intel which prices its processors higher for a performance that does not reflect the price difference in any way.

basically Tom isn't biased, he just has a not inconsiderable ego that gets affronted too. what did Tom say that was wrong exactly? that AMD chips are king of price-performance? that AMD boards allow finer overclocking possibilities?

my complaint is mainly that the site takes too long to load, and the search function is useless. the forums are even worse. as for the detail of his reviews and his scientific method, I place that above Anandtech level.

I think Tom's Hardware got the "anti-Intel" bias from when Van Smith worked there. Van Smith is the schmuck who wrote the infamous inquest article about the P4 clock throttling.

The first enthusiast site I went to was probably Tom's. That you can say "check at Tom's" to so many people shows how many have read it at one time or another. But I have to agree, it's not intuitive to navigate and the commentary can get overbearing.
Anand has a site anyone from newbie to old time hobbiest can enjoy, Tom's reqires a degree in geekness to read, but both have their place.

Naw, i don't think Tom is too biased... i think he just gets too enthusiastic sometimes.

To be honest though, i haven't visited him on a regular basis in almost a year though.
