If yes, how many calories burned/exercise? How many times/week?

I just started to exercise for 4-5 times/week and 400-600 calories each time.

I've been going to the gym 6 days a week for 1 1/2-2 hours a day of heavy lifting, probably burning 600-1,000 calories a night, depending on what I'm doing. Deadlift and squats are hell on you though, so I'm gonna start toning down on those a bit.

I workout every day, and have increased my muscle tone by about 3x in the past 6 months. I'm now one of the most 'muscley' people in school I started because I'm skinny, and my metabolism is too fast for me to gain any weight. So my only option was to put on weight through weighlighting, which I swore I'd never do. I actually find it fun now, and of course the chicks dig it My only downfall is that I don't keep track of calories / protein intake, although I do plan on doing that soon. I've heard that it explodes your rate of muscle building. Anyone have any before/after experiences with protein intake?

I said 5-6. I do weights several times a week and run anywhere from 1-4 times/week depending on how unlazy I'm feeling. I only go for 25 minute runs but they're reasonably intense since I live around a lot of hills. My weight workouts take from 30-40 minutes. Weightlifting has always taken precedence over cardio for me personally.

45min - 1 hour (mainly cardio) for me. It is kinda boring to stay in the gym room for over an hour.

A year without working out? I can't imagine that would hurt your physique

Good lord, I'd personally classify 5-6 days of heavy weight lifting/week as overtraining. I used to go 4-5 times a week, but when I cut it down to 3, I noticed much more significant gains (both size and strength-wise). It is very possible to overdo things without realizing it.

I try and weight train 3 times a week, but my arm doesn't always agree with me. Beyond that, all I'd head to the gym for is half an hour of running. Throw in all the stair climbing and walking that I do between classes and I'm not too worried about becoming inactive.

Honestly, I don't think there's a night that goes by where I don't run 3 miles or ride a cardio bike for an hour straight.

when you're doing different muscle groups the 5 days it's not over training

Nope, unless you count sex.

i exersized for so long, the calorie meter reset

I remember that post, hehe

Anyway, I exercise daily but there is always a day or two in a month I don't get time to, but for the most part everyday. Two laps around a large lake with my dad every day except Wednesday, and the weekend because on each of those days I usually have a soccer practice/game and that is even more than those two laps. I have no clue how many calories I burn.

I don't count calories burned. It's a waste of time.

I lift four days a week and do cardio four days a week.

Mon: Chest and triceps + 40 minutes of cardio (at 150-160 HR)
Tue: Back and biceps +cardo
Wed: Off
Thur: Shoulders + cardio
Fri: Legs and calves + cardio
Sat/Sun: Off (optional cardo)

I work out alot, though it doesn't feel like much is happening:

I do about 20 minutes of cardio 3-4 times a week
15-20 minutes of tone building weight training (mostly lower body) about 2-3 times a week

I also take 2 dance classes a week (1 hour) which isn't really exercise, but it is alot of stretching and strengthening.

Its really hard for me to gauge whether I am doing a good job or if I am building muscle or anything. I did cut my body fat about 1.5% over the last few months...but I don't really look any different. I am trying to tone up my body, not lose weight though.

k, I'll stop now.

"Toning" comes from decreased body fat. If you want to be tone, you need to lengthen the time you do cardio and moderate your diet. If you want to tone without getting much skinnier, you have to maximize your weight lifting. Lift heavy, and minimize the sets and reps you do. Less is more. Work each muscle group once a week and do every set to complete failure and with maximum intensity.

There is really only one way to work with weights. How "big" you get depends totally on your diet (and genetics) not in how you lift weights. How "toned" you get depends on how much fat you burn... not in how you lift your weights.
