I liked baseball, a lot. However, I'm thinking I should boycott it until they do mandatory, repetitive, random, drug testing for all players. I didn't realize how widespread the steroid and other enhancing drug use was in MLB. Although I'm not ready to make my decision based on 1 SI article... I'll see what happens the next few weeks/mo's. Wow.

Yeah those evil people at ESPN,I mean it's not like you could change the channel to get away from it or anything.

It's the oldest of the big 4 proffesional sports leagues (I think) and it'a played when the other 3 sports are ending.During baseball season it's a huge chunk of programming for ESPN and all their channels. Wouldn't it make sense for them, when not showing it live ,to talk abourt it and show highlights?


And to answer the poll yes Baseball is my favorite sport

I sort of like baseball, but it's a very slow-moving game, and my boredom is compounded by the fact that they play 162 games or however many and every team plays every other team like 16 times + interleague play GOOD GOD
I mean they do that in basketball and hockey, too but not to the same extent.

The only way to watch baseball is to go to see it live. Pretty boring otherwise.

Baseball can be very exciting if you are into it, cuz you know one pitch can change EVERYTHING...

With all the other major sports (basketball, hockey or football), they are constrainted by time... while with baseball, even if you are in the 9th inning and you are down by 10, you can still win/tie the game...

But if you are not into it, it's very boring... My gf hates it when I watch baseball on the weekend, cuz she find it much more boring than hockey or basketball...

Yesterday I played IM softball because there isn't a local baseball league. Today I took some popups and hit some with some friends.

Love it love it love it; love to watch it. love to play it.

My major gripe is that the owners are crapping out--they *REALLY* should have to show their books to the world IMHO, and the team payroll disparities are a little insane.

Yes, yes, yes. Baseball is totally screwed up economically, and they have to implement a cap and revenue sharing ASAP. Otherwise you're going to continue to be able to look at the top 10-12 teams on the payroll list at the beginning of the year and pencil in 8 of them for the playoffs. Contraction would be fine with me but do it right, get rid of a bunch of them and go to 24 teams. 2 divisions per league, 6 teams per division. Get rid of some of that watered-down pitching. And test them for steroids year round.

When they strike, the idiot owners have got to get the salary cap and revenue sharing. Lock Steinbrenner out of the room if you have to. The players' union is the strongest in any sport, in large part because the owners are morons and act like 30 little Napoleons when they get together. And the players win every time, which is why the economic situation is so messed up. Selig is a tool -- there needs to be a strong, visible commisioner who could present the facts to the media and casual fans and make it clear what's wrong and what needs to be changed, and then work non-stop to get a deal hammered out before a strike happens and f*cks baseball again.
