I have a wireless access point connected to my router/ modem. It's a bitch to transfer big files over (so slooooww), but getting rid of the ethernet wires is a blessing. Will there be faster wifi in the future (fast as wired)?

QUESTION: do cordless phones interfere with wifi networks? I read they use similar frequencies (2.4 Ghz or thereabouts).

Yep, same wireless router for the past three years. I'm the only one of the street with wireless.

oh they wipe em out good if they are 2.4ghz.

the pre N stuff from linksys is pretty fast, still not gonna replace wired though. u are still sharing one frequency basically, while wired can have many people doing 100mb/s or even 1000mb/s now at the same time. but for web wifi's gonna be fine for a while, our average web connects are just sh*t slow

Yes, I only have wireless connection at home.
The only phone jack I have is located over the counter next to the entrance door. I can't run cables...

Yes, cordless phones can interfere with wireless networks. My Uniden 2.4GHz phones will kill all wireless traffic to my router sometimes. Changing channels on the phone fixes it, but I'm considering getting new 5.8 cordless phones.

I voted wireless but I have both.
I have a wired router (vonage) with a wireless access point connected. Since I wired my house with cat5e when i bought the house, I really only use the wireless for the laptops so it's powered off most of the time.

Yes I have a wireless router because it was easier than running a cable around 3 rooms, plus I have a wireless enabled printer.

Netgear WGT634U. Very easy to set up and seems fairly secure. Interestingly, if I was of a less than scrupulous nature i could easily connect to atleast 5 other none secured networks belonging to my neighbours.

I have wireless in the house, as well as wired. I don't use wireless much, but the apartment that conjoins my house has access through the wireless link.

I have a Netgear G.

Sucker overheats and does not play well with the cable modem. Never had a problem with the old B Model.

I will evenutally get around to replacing it next time I go to Frys.

I would prefer to not use wireless for my main rig, but because of how messed up the design of my apartment is, I have to use it... Oh well, at least I have a decent router and good wireless card on my comp. Can easily max out my up/down bandwidth via Comcast (4mbps/256k).
