I haven't tried it, and I have no intent to. I bought Q3, and team arena should have been part of it from the beginning. I'm happy playing my FREE mods for halflife (counterstrike, TFC)

demo is free standalone...basically what a demo is.

The demo is a freestanding piece. You do NOT need to have Q3 to try it. The final retail product WILL require Q3.

The demo has only one map in it and only one of the new weapons (proximity mine launcher), but it supports the Headhunter, One-Flag CTF, CTF and Overload variants. There are also two new player models.

Here's a tip for Overload:

Get the rocket launcher and prox mine gun and some extra ammo for the prox gun. Charge the enemy skull and spam the skull with mines. (It's good to have at least 15.) Then, switch to the RL and shoot the mines! You get the points for ALL of the ordinance! BOOYAH!!!

Make sure to have someone cover your six while you're doing this. If you're trying to do this solo. Keep bouncing up and down on the jump pad right in front of the station. It's hard to cover the downstairs and this will give you a bit of a head start.

Expect to die anyway. But, it's a TEAM game, right?

Yeah, this will bring Q3 to where UT was a year ago, but whatever. Don't buy it if you don't want to.

Don't waste you time. There are many FREE mods out there.

Weapons Factory Arena is my favorite. It doesn't get any better than that.

I think it is pretty fun actually. Had fun playing the demo a few times. I doubt I will buy it though...don't have much time for games anymore...boohoo.

I tried it, didnt like it, hardly anything new. This is how the game should have been, Quake3 was just an engine, this is the game, should be free.

I was so looking forward to the big levels I saw in the trailers, this was crap.

Q3A and TA just make me sad. I cut my teeth in 3D gaming with Quake 2 (first on a Riva 128, then on Voodoo 2s), and really loved those marathon sessions of Lithium and Action Quake 2.

Q3A's whole goofy sci-fi aesthetic totally turns me off, the guns are really, er, fictional-looking compared to Q2, the sound engine is VERY marginal (especially the horrid &quot;dink-dink-dink&quot; noise when you hit an opponent), the jump pads are silly, and the gameplay just has no punch overall. The graphics are pretty in 32-bit, but otherwise UT has it all over Q3A, and even UT is nowhere near as fun to me as Counter-Strike and some of the other variants of Half-Life.

I had about an hour of decent gameplay out of the TA demo; time to uninstall now.

I really love WFA, and team arena is fun I think. I too had to really mess with Norton. And I also have slowdown even though my ping is ok.

Ho hum, I paid $29 for Q3 and am still waiting for a decent mod for it. Id won't be getting anymore of my money.
