But yes, there has been a huuuge influx of n00bs and OMGWTFBBQ!-style threads in the last few months, sigh.

And everyone thinks that anyone else with a good story must be lying unless it's them.

Plus people actually waited until another was shown to be wrong instead of just said to be wrong to jump on the silly bandwagon of 'pwned!'.

I look at things like WTF is that and then three forum idiots will have "oh you pwned alcehmist"

Despite what my join date indicates, I've been around since the "early" days. Does anyone remember Nowhereman's "butter" threads? I think that was the first 1000 post thread. The flame wars were a lot funnier back then. And if we go back further, any of you guys remember the BBS? Man I feel special now.

I don't miss it. It was just a bunch of flame posts, VERY slow forums (sometimes it would take up to three minutes to post a message- sometime the forums wouldn't load at all), bad interface---like it much better now.

There seems to be fewer "characters" now than before. OT has become too homogenized; the characters are either driven off (by other members or by the mods) from OT or have all turned into Texmasters in P&N.

I think it used to be a lot more fun in OT. Spliting off Politics and News just seemed to kill it and over there its just he same thing over and over IMHO.

Anybody remember my old sig "Why do I bother to post to the children in OT"? Well, I pretty much stopped bothering.

I still check in almost daily but seldom find a thread worth commenting in.

Rest of the Forums here are still great though.

Your ass is one of the main reasons that 'the new' ATOT sucks so much. You're part of the problem and not part of the solution, and to be honest I have no clue why you haven't been banned yet.

At first i didnt know what the OP was specifically talking about...but now that you mention it, you're right. I spent most of my early time in GW but ATOT was a lot more maure in 99-00 time frame. Average age range was significantly higher, it seemed.
