Poll: do you need your coffee in the morning?

I used to be a raging teetotatler when it came to coffee (and pretty much all caffeine)...and then some 10 years ago I discovered that I could barely function without it. so yeah, I needs it hard.

same here. i never needed it when i could leave for work by 8 AM, but now that i have to leave by 5:30 i drink about 300mg each morning

I enjoy coffee with a little sugar and milk or 1/2 and 1/2, in the morning and also with any meal.

Need it, no. There are often days I don't bother in the morning with coffee.

I more or less do, like sometimes I go without it, but it's pretty much my routine now. Before it was only at work, but now it's even at home. I have a grinder and drip machine and at work I use the Keurig or pickup Tim's on the way to work if I have time.

I slowed down on Pepsi, in fact it's been several weeks since my last one! I just kinda stopped buying some and I'm actually not missing it. When I want to sit down with a drink other than water, I just make a coffee instead. I don't know how healthy that is but it has to be better than pop. I drink it just black.

That's the odd thing I find about coffee, it smells so much better than it tastes! I actually did not like the taste myself either at first, it took me 2 tries before it grew on me.

Well I'm finding that mixing a teaspoon of Maxwell House instant coffee and two teaspoons of raw dark cacao powder, and two teaspoons of brown sugar to 16oz of water with a tablespoon or two of butter makes a wonderful and delicious drink.

I made a thread on this previously, but I will reiterate on this again: Everyone has a drug in life. It can be legal, illegal, prescription, coffee, nicotene, caffeine, sex, money, etc... Everyone has a drug of choice that they get high off getting/receiving on a regular basis.... It's just a matter of which they choose, but I guarantee they have at least one.

Caffeine is not just accepted but encouraged because it makes people more efficient and is slightly addictive, but doesn't cause people to go crazy. I've never gotten the whole caffeine withdrawal thing though. I've stopped coffee cold turkey after drinking around a gallon per day without any noticeable effects. I don't get hangovers either, so maybe I'm just really lucky. Could be genetics, I've had a few family members who quit smoking cold turkey as well.

I guess my drug is soda, it's the one thing I feel truly addicted to.

I'm still getting cravings for soda despite being off it for about two weeks. I swear, they are putting something in soda to make it more addicting.

Take chocolate, a creation that could lead one to believe in a loving god and add "mocha". Now that chocolate tastes like ass. Same with ice cream. Coffee wrecks everything and leads to bad breath, really bad breath, not quite as bad as smoker breath, but close.

I've got your back, IronWing. I love coffee, but all alcohol tastes bad to me and people think I'm crazy. I keep trying it, but I've yet to find anything good. Some foods just don't agree with some tastes.

I believe you when you say it tastes better, but I just don't have the time or effort when the end result is the same... caffeine.
